I held off on getting an e-reader for a long time because I just didn't think I would like it as much as having an actual book in my hands. I love turning the pages of a book, I love the smell of a book, I love seeing them on my shelves. However, I eventually decided about a year ago to try it and my husband bought me a Kindle Fire & I have to say it's the best gift he has ever given me!!! I love the convenience of not having to go to the bookstore & being able to purchase my books & magazines from the comfort of my home! Don't get me wrong, I love bookstores, but we live way out in the country & the closest bookstore is close to an hour away. If a new book was coming out that I wanted I didn't always have the time to drive to the bookstore to get it right away...but with my Kindle I don't have to worry about that! Just a few clicks & I'm reading my book! I would definitely recommend getting one!!!

I have been travelling a lot over the past few years. My first e-reader was a Sony back in 2009 (I now have an iPad), and it changed my life :) For me, being able to have access to a particular book whenever I feel like it outweighs any drawbacks from changing to a screen instead of paper.

I have not yet gone the route of purchasing an e book reader. I am afraid of losing the "real book" feel. I like having an actual book in my hand when I want to read. Is this old fashioned??

Before my husband got my kindle as my Christmas gift last year I was strictly a paper/hard back book kinda girl! I haven't picked up a real book since I received my Kindle. I don't have to worry about keeping the together without it getting tore up especially with 2 small children. It is easier to carry around as well. I just slip it in my purse or diaper bag and out the door I go! I didn't think I would like reading on an electronic device as I never enjoyed reading on my actual laptop but its a totally different experience. It has also made my school work and reading 10x easier

I love getting a tablet that can download ebook reader applications on it so you get the best of both worlds. I also prefer that the tablet have an expandable MicroSD slot so that I can keep certain books and get more. My e-library continues to expand while I take up no room in my home. The best of my world.

I think it really depends on your lifestyle. If you tend to read while your traveling, a e reader will keep all of your books in one place. If you read at home more often, there really isn't a need for it, unless you truly want it.

I originally got my Kindle when I was going to travel a couple of years ago. Now I don't think I could live without it!

Absolutely. I have a Nook Tablet, and I do all of my fun reading on it. For my professional reading, I still like paper because I take notes, and it bothers me to not be able to turn immediately to the page I want by guessing at the distance in the text. I don't know if you can put the Nook app on a Kindle, but you can put the Kindle app on a Nook. Having both allows me to take advantage of the best prices or free books that both companies offer.

YES! I have had my Kindle for almost two years and I love it. I always was very fond of taking a book everywhere I go and the kindle makes that a lot easier. You are able to travel with it, buy books at a cheaper price than a paperback/hardcover book and don't have to worry about messing up any of the pages. I recommend the e-books for anyone who loves to read anywhere they go.

In my opinion, it is totally worth it to get an e-reader. I have always loved a paper book: the way it smells, the way it feels in my hand, the satisfaction of turning pages. However, the ease of e-readers is amazing. I can have 10 times as many books in this one little device as I have on my bookshelf, and it weighs next to nothing (compared to books) and takes up immensely less space. So unless you are the type of person who reads and donates their books afterwards (I'm not, I like to keep them forever), then I'd suggest getting one. If not, then stick to regular books. :)

I have yet to invest in an ereader and because there are reading apps that I wouldn't be able to use( I have already tried putting it on a few and have talk to "professionals" about it) I am just upgrading my phone to the Galaxy Note 3 since I read everything off of my phone anyways.

I feel like it's been a worthwhile investment for me! I love having access to hundreds of books at a time, a great deal of which were free.

That's how I feel too! Not only can you "buy" hundreds of free books, a lot of libraries these days lend them too.

If you only want to read books, I say go for it. But if you're looking for the whole package (music player, webcam, fast OS etc), you're better off getting a tablet. Also, if you're a occasional reader, you won't have much use for an e-reader. I read for more than 10 hours a week, so I'm really glad I bought a Kindle.

I had a hard time switching from books to an ereader, I use a Nook now. I have nothing but rave reviews for them!! I can get a new book at the touch of my finger, they take up less room, and they are cheaper than an actual book :) The only time I had a small issue was when B&N were having site and dowloading issues and I had to wait to get a new book, which almost killed me! hehehe
