I always read paperbacks faster because I love the satisfaction of seeing the progression of my bookmark through the pages as opposed to a progress bar. I also like not feeling like I'm tethered to a battery in order to read, which keeps me from reading e-books when I'm even below half of my battery life.

I generally read a paperback faster, just because when I sit with a paperback I really have time to sit and read. The ebooks are usually when I'm about to go to bed, so it's just a short time before I am relaxed enough to fall asleep. Unless it is a Betty Neels Harlequin Romance, then usually finish that in two hours and ready to sleep after. She's a really straight forward sweet romance that somehow always takes me back to an era where Ladies wore gloves and gentleman paid for everything.

It depends on the story and how often I can read my kindle app at work. When the weather is nice outside I take walks on my breaks at work when it's not nice I read my books at work. If I really get into if I have time by the weekend I can finish pretty fast. The paperback book depends on how good it is. I usually read those right before I go to bed sometimes I fall asleep reading even if it is really good.

I think I read at the same pace using both books and e-readers. However, if I am reading at night then I read better on an e-reader that produces light. It's nice not to have to have the lights on and be able to read. It is difficult to calculate which I read faster with when distracted from the book(s). Turning pages doesn't take a long time, but a swipe or click of an e-reader is all you need to change the screen. I doubt it effects the speed of the reading by much.

Takes the same time for me. The books which have suspense in them are read by me faster.

How fast I read a book....um.....it doesn't actually depend on if it's paperbook or e book.....I don't think I have an answer :eusa-think:

Definitely paperbook. It's too easy to get distracted on the computer and try and do too much stuff at once. With a paperbook, I'm usually curled up on the couch with it with no distractions...unless it's sleep inducing. Sadly, study notes can fall into the sleep inducing category far too often (helped along with the fact that I tend to curl up on the bed for those - bad sleep hygeine, but it's comfy!)

I find I read a bit faster using an e-book on my laptop, mainly because I can adjust the text to be larger and any font I want as well as tone up or down the background color to be easier on my eyes.
With a paperback I do not have this option.
[To be fair, my eyes are quite old so any advantage is welcome.]
I still read hard bound and paperback books for that difficult to define feeling a book gives one, but as for speed...e-books, for the above reason.

I read ebooks faster, especially since my purchase of the Voyage. The page turn buttons give me a better page turn speed, than the Paperwhite could with screen touch page turning. The device is easy to carry, holds a ton of my purchased books to boot. I believe I get more out of the books too as, my device looks up words in the dictionary or Wikipedia, so no more switching around to different reference material.

If I have a choice, I will read a paperback. The feel of the book in my hands and the smell of the book are two tangible things that I love about reading. The progression of my bookmark through the book gives me a sense of satisfaction. These are not possible with an e-book. Do I read e-books? Yes, when there is no other options. For example, when I am traveling and don't have room for more than one or two physical books, I know I have a virtual library to choose from. This feature is a definite benefit.

I read faster on my phone than I do paperbacks. And I'll be honest, the fact upsets me but I believe my reading habits are to blame. I tend to 'eat' slower when I'm reading the physical book while on a screen I turn into a greedy dragon and devour at a rapid pace.

I believe I read paperback books faster than E-books. When I am reading on a device, I constantly get distracted. Therefore, paperbacks provide a more efficient way for me to read at a constant pace, which will be faster overall. I do tend to not read E-books because they strain my eyes if I read for lengthy periods of time. :( So, yeah...

I don't find a difference in the time it takes to read a book but I enjoy reading a traditional book more than a ebook. I like the convenience of the e-book as far as being able to have all your books at the touch of a button but I love everything about real books. How they look and feel and smell... Am I weird? Lol

I tend to read ebooks quicker since it's just a swipe of a finger or a button.

Paperbacks are always faster for me. I enjoy them better compared to the bright screen, stark white background, and lack of tangible paper.
