Sony Reader transition to Kobo
I'm curious how many people own a Sony ereader? Recently the company has been bought out by Kobo and any customers with the Sony Reader have had to transition over to the Kobo. My transition has been successful and went off without a hitch but I'm curious if anyone experienced any issues and want to know how you feel about the buy-out in general? I am personally quite happy with the transition. While I never had an issues with Sony their selection of books was always very limited compared to Kobo and Amazon and the prices of their books in the Canadian store were always higher. So I am quite happy to have a larger selection with cheaper prices more available to me now.
Cheers

During my transfer, 73 books didn't make it. Some freebies of course, but two Jeffrey Archer books and three Michael Connelly book sets didn't make it which really surprised me. Luckily, I sent all my books beforehand to Calibre.

I'm sorry that the process has been difficult for you. I'm sure that you're not the only one who has had issues and I know that you're not the only one who isn't happy with the transition.ConstantReader wrote:I have four different Sony Readers that I just love. When I received the email announcing the closing of the Sony Reader store closing and Kobo taking over, I felt like I lost my best friend. I preferred the Sony Store to the Kobo Store. I bought a few books from Kobo, but I just didn't care for the layout of the place. To me, Sony knew what they were doing with the whole process. I especially liked the "check out" at Sony. You could buy more than one book at a time. Sony also price matched other retailers. I just can't say enough.

I do have to agree with you in that the Sony store had a much more appealing flow to their site and that their checkout process is a lot better so I was sad to see that go too. However, as a customer from Canada, the positives that I'm finding is that that Sony charged so much more for their books than the other competitor sites and didn't have the same variety so I am glad that I am getting my money's worth on my books now.
