Ebook Readers

Post by suzie2672 »

I feel that ebook readers have took the reading world by storm. They have opened up a whole new dimension to introduce books to a broader audience.

What was your first ebook reader and book that you read?

I've always used my iPad and I love it. First book I've ever read on it was Fifty Shades of Grey.

I started using a Kindle back in 2008, which was the second generation of the device. Pride and Prejudice was my first downloaded book.

I can recommend the Kindle Paperwhite (the second generation one is best). It holds a ton of books and you have access to free amazon cloud for storage of books. I don't think your Nook content is compatible with it though.

I used my old Nokia phone as an e-reader back in 2010. The first book i downloaded was Looking for Alaska by John Green.

Maria, I would recommend the Kindle Paperwhite, 2nd generation. You can still get them from Amazon, and or ebay, as such cheaper. There are a lot of mixed reviews about the new voyage they came out with. What I like about using an actual designated reader is the lightweight, and I even picked up a cover for mine which makes the device feel like a leather cover paperback in my hand.

Thanks! That's the one I'm looking into getting. Your case sounds really good, will definitely be getting one of those! As much as I love ebooks now I do miss the feel of a real book in my hands sometimes :)

The cover I have is this one: Fintie Folio Case for Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (Both 2012 and 2013 Versions with 6" Display and Built-in Light) Book Style with Auto Sleep/Wake Feature - Vintage Antique Bronze. It comes in other colors as well. It isn't a lighted cover for the Paperwhite, but does have the magnet closure that shuts the unit down when not reading it.

Thank you so much for your advice. I will definitely get both. It's worth the investment and as much as I hate to admit it, ebooks are the way to go now, much easier to carry and you have your entire book collection with you at all times wherever you are. I still love the feel of a real book in my hands though :)

You're welcome. I still read a paper book here and again myself. Still addicted to the smell of pages and ink, I guess.
