Yes. Sometimes they do. To prevent eye irritation when using an ereader, I usually ensure that the brightness of the screen is the same as that of the surrounding.

In the 21st century, every device works badly from the point of view of the eyes. No matter how much we try to deny and avoid this fact.

I've been using an e-reader for a few months now, and I can definitely say that it doesn't hurt my eyes, especially compared to when I read on my laptop or smartphone. You can also adjust the font size and brightness if you feel like your eyes are straining.

I have read that time in front of screens is bad for your eyes, so if your e-reader is a smart phone, computer, or tablet, then all those would strain your eyes. There is a lot of contradictory advice out there, I usually don't get eye strain but I'm never so glued to the screen that hours go by without a break.

Any reading when done without taking a break, can be detrimental to our eyes. The best way to prevent this is by taking regular breaks after every half an hour. It wouldn't have been such a huge market for eReaders if they had such confirmed damaging attributes!

Yes because we have to make use of electronic devices that might damage the eyes if used often.

It may be true for some people, but personally I don't relate to it much. I always keep eye protection mode turned on on my tablet and adjust the font size according to my needs. I would also like to add the fact that without turning on the 'eye protection mode' I cannot even use my phone because I experience too many cluster headaches, but that has been true even before I got into reading books.

Ebook readers don't damage my eyes, but the phone does, I think.

Reading eBooks started affecting my eyes when I was new to them. I had to get a blue-light filter eyeglass to stop the damage.

Reading in the dark damaging your eyes, huh? I wasn't aware of this, but yes I somewhat agree that ebooks can damage the eyes if the use is consistent and ill-managed.

I always ensure to adjust the brightness while reading. To reduce the concentration of the light on my eyes , I avoid reading in a dark room with a reading app.

I personally don't think so. I do tend to be cautious though and use the "blue light blocking" feature on my tablet to keep my eyes from straining at night or making it hard to fall asleep while I'm in bed.

I think it might do damage in long term. Never researched seriously about it. I am an e reader and always reads on my phone or laptop its just much more convenient for me.

I can say it damages them, but yes constant exposure to the screen causes me irritation and it makes me hard to focus on the words. In most cases, even setting the brightness of the screen doesn't help. I avoid reading in the dark because it needs more focusing and, cause more stress in my eyes. An additional factor of headache is always there, surprise! :tiphat:

Follow the 20-20-20 rule, which suggests taking a 20-second break every 20 minutes and looking at something 20 feet away! P.s I'll try it too xD
