Should I read "The bell jar"?

I always been curious about it, everybody seems to like it. How do I know if it's for me? Should I give it a read?

It is beautifully written - I enjoyed it for the poetic prose alone. Some may find the subject matter harrowing, but those who've been through experiences like Esther's might find it helpful.
