I love to listen to books. It's a very satisfying way for me to enjoy the novel. I'm reading. I say this because I can do housework and listen, drive in my car and instead of music, I listen to my book ---

It was the most miserable idea that I decide to do, never listen to books but feel them with your own sense, make all your body organs share with you while reading.

I just don't enjoy audiobooks. It is like passive reading. I like reading on my own. But sometimes if the narrator is engaging, there is a chance that I might enjoy the audiobook.

[MY OWN THOUGHTS ON THIS OLD THREAD]

To start, I love listening to podcast while I'm doing some chores. And I also love reading; and when my mother says I need to do some chores, I need to get my hind and do them chores! So for me, it is good. I love that I get to hear other people imagine what the "characters" sound like. Also, it feels just like you're watching some movie! Because you hear the characters and then it's up to you how you would imagine them!

I can't do the audiobook thing. I've tried several times, and I just cannot get into it.

I actually love listening to audiobooks. They're great for long drives and for doing chores. I downloaded the "Libby" app which connects to my library systems. I use it for downloading both audiobooks and ebooks - SO convenient. :techie-studyingbrown:

I have had different experiences with audiobooks. I think it all depends on the narrator... For instance I thoroughly enjoy audiobooks narrated by Julia Whelan - especially when there are different accents involved in the story. She is masterful at portraying different voices and accents - better than I would have done in my mind... On the other hand I have found some narrators to read the story with a repetitive tone despite the content being varied or have heard weird/creepy female voices made by a male narrator :lol2:
It is great to listen to an audiobook or even podcast while doing house chores!

I've never listened to an audio book because I'm a visual person. I learn and retain better when I read it myself. So if you're someone who can listen to a lecture and retain the information, I would definitely give audio books a try.

I’ve always wanted to try audiobooks, but I feel like they won’t be suitable for me, I just feel like it won’t be the same as reading the book. I’m still open to giving it a try though!

I like audiobooks unless I'm trying to finish the book quickly. I enjoy listening to them while doing tasks around the house so I can still be reading.

I do like audio books for autobiographies and nonfiction but I still prefer a solid paperback to enjoy my fiction literature

I believe audiobooks can be fun depending on the type of book and the narrator. I have
listened to audiobooks of the Bible, especially if I am too tired to read, but I prefer reading
for myself.

I haven't listened to an audio book myself, but I think they are a great idea for people who having difficulties with their sight or even for those who want to multi-task and do something else whilst listening to their book.
