It does save money. Physical books are costlier. Plus some books are not easily available. If you purchase online, you have to wait, until the book is delivered. E-books are immediately accessible after purchasing it online. Personally, I feel the only drawback to reading E-books is that I get dry eyes and a headache on prolonged reading. The same is not true for physical books.

I like e-readers not only because they are much cheaper, but also comfortable to travel with.

E-readers have saved me hundreds I think. E-books are either really cheap or free sometimes. For the physical book, you have to get them and must pay for all of them, so E-readers do a good job at reducing expenses.
