I would say the feeling of mistrust, fear and isolation in the book is similar to the pandemic.

The behavioral changes were outright similar to us what everyone one of us faced.

I've never thought about it that way before but reading this I realize that yes, isolation and alienation are definitely common themes. It's so sad that now we can't even go outside without fear of getting sick, just like how it's hard for the characters in the book to trust those outside their group/family.

I'm on this that this book shares similarities to the pandemic. The cautiousness, isolation and separation are all shown in this book.

I didn't notice until you mentioned it but this is definitely true. The way society feels separated from each other is definitely similar to the pandemic. This might have not been intentional on the author's part though. The author might still be oblivious to this. It's really great that you could notice it.

I agree there are some similarities between this book and the pandemic. It’s almost tragic to think we’ve all been enduring this type of social isolation, suspicion, and condemnation for the past two years. Really makes you think about human nature.

Yeah, I see the relationship the book shared with the pandemic because of solutions and separations.

Much like the pandemic, the book brought out the absolute worst in the characters. When something major happens, people are always looking for someone to blame or shun, and that's what I think happened in the book.

It is definitely a natural instinct in the face of threat to identify with only those you trust. And we definitely saw the characters in this book moving in groups and distrusting others.

Well, I did not think of it relating to the pandemic. Mistrust and groupings in the book are of a greater intent. Having guys licensed as hunters then coming together to form a hunters guild. To me, it was as if it were a war. During the pandemic, people had to live like that because it was for the sake of staying safe from infection. But, if I were to consider only mistrust, then a similarity to the pandemic exists.

Separation and isolation were the main similarities to the pandemic. I understood the looks people used to give me whenever I sneezed in a public space.

I agree. People were told to isolate during the pandemic; they were told to stay away from people they needed and wanted to be with for the sake of their health. Mistrust was an issue, but it was not motivated by prejudice and rivalry as in the book.

I agree that it relates to a pandemic because people were on lockdown and several persons were isolated.

You are definitely on point. It felt like no one wants to let anybody in. You are either on your own or with familiar faces. The behaviour was quite alike.

Yes I feel there is similarities between the book and the pandemic. Just like it happened during the pandemic, the book mentioned self- isolation and people suspecting themselves.
