There are some similarities between those situations. Everyone deciding to be on their own with limited relations with outsiders. So, it’s okay to say it’s somehow related.

Yes, they are pretty much similar. Take the apocalypse to be the pandemic, and post pandemic everybody was trying to adjust to what we are being subjected to as the new normal. After the pandemic the feeling of mistrust was very much evident, no hiding it and everyone wanted to survive and be safe. These features can be seen in the book as well.

the situation in the book brings out some of the aspects that we faced during the pandemic like isolation and mistrust of oneanother.

Yes, I agree with you. The behaviour and reactions of the characters within the book seem similar to what we had during the pandemic.

There were similarities, especially isolation and issues of trust. What puzzles me is how people always tend to rely on the familiar forgetting about the fact that sometimes family and group members can betray too. During the pandemic, many assumed that they were safe in common places and among people they knew. Was there a loss of hope? Yes, till the vaccines. Yet even that was not enough to allay fears.

Yes, I felt as though it was very similar to the lockdown and pandemic. The lack of trust, and the absolute unease is much like Covid times, where everyone felt like you couldn't really trust anyone, not even your neighbors.

The pandemic similarities are undeniable as it affected everyone around the world. The characters faced same issues with the pandemic like you mentioned.

During the pandemic, I once sneezed in public (with my face mask on) and when I looked up, I could only see people's backs as they walked away from the area!

When you think about it, it does give you somewhat of a pandemic situation only. We formed groups nd lived in isolation for a long time till everything sorted out in the end.

I agree the book is eerily similar to the pandemic.
I think it is the common behaviour of the humans when they face trouble, to act panicked, untrustworthy, and over protective.

Yes, I must say the boo is similar to the pandemic because it has theme that involves a person's isolation.

The similarity is just the isolation. But in fact, this pandemic is finally over and many people survived this, not like in the book.

General mistrust, isolation deaths and population attitudes are similar to the pandemic. The abnormals are viewed as the sick, they mistrust everyone because of the hunters. There is a record of very many deaths within a small time just as the corona pandemic where deaths were getting reported in terms of 24 hours. There is also desperation in both cases.

Frankly, I didn’t think about it like this when I was reading the book. But now that you have mentioned it, I think I see the similarities. However, I believe the author intended for the book to feel that way but I doubt if his intention was for it to give off pandemic vibes.

Definitely. The way the people were separated and isolated from each other did indeed resemble the pandemic. I don't think that was intentional on the author's part but it was definitely worth raising.
