Yeah, there were some similarities; during the pandemic, no one trusted others outside close relations, we could also see that in this book. We were also suspicious of strangers; we can also see that in this book.

I wouldn't say it had purely pandemic similarities as the events occurring here didn't solely occur during the pandemic. I have referenced this in a previous post but I would say that it had similarities to the "segregation" or division prevalent in America with the prevalence of so many groups.

The similarities are way too obvious. Isolation was a major part of the book and it was also a major occurrence during the pandemic.

I agree it is related to the pandemy, during the pandemic, people just wanted to be on their own with families only. That was isolation. The idea of putting on a nosemask too for safety when you eventually decide to step out.

Yes I can see many similarities between behaviour of people during pandemic and the behaviour of characters towards abnormal ones. Isolation is prevalent throughout the book and fear of being judged or being judgemental towards abnormal ones. However pandemic was solved due to scientific advancement but the plot in the book is about the negative impact of technology.

I agree that there are pandemic similarities in this book. For example, separation, isolation, and safety.

I agree to the similarities like that of the need to survive and loneliness during the pandemic. The people were living and suspecting one another.

I think it's a powerful thing that the author was able to emit the feelings of isolation, loneliness and distrust and that so many readers could connect to having felt those things during the high of the pandemic. I always liked books that could do that.

I do agree too. it is similar to what happened during a pandemic. The isolation, fear, self-protection, and safety are evident in the book.

Yes I am with you. At first I thought am the only one with that feeling but thanks for bringing it as a topic for discussion. It seemed like everyone was in his own group completely separate from other groups but still separated even within the groups. It appeared like the book was written to show us how people should behave in a pandemic.

This book had some similarities to the pandemic. Everyone would look at you peculiarly if displayed any flu symptoms. The characters in the book displayed similar behaviour, feelings or emotions to people during the pandemic.

It did have similarities to the Pandemic phase. I totally agree with the isolation part as we too felt lonely during this time. Though the story was supernatural but it had connections to the human world too.

Yeah. I agree to the pandemic similarities. The group find it difficult to trust each other. This is similar to the pandemic and isolation.

I agree that there are certain similarities between the pandemic and the scenarios within this book, but I think the similarities revolves around the behavioral patterns of the characters.
