Did anyone else feel like the characters all shared the same type of personality, very rough around the edges, the don't talk while I talk type of person. I also caught Cole saying "da" for "the" like the "rednecks" in the beginning did and found that extremely out of character. I just felt like everyone was harsh and angry- and a bit the same.

I don't know if I quite agree with that summary. While there are similarities between the characters, there are definite differences that made each character their own in my opinion.

I feel it's all part of what the author wants to portray in this book. Though I would have preferred each character being unique.

I also feel like it's a way to portray a somewhat universal character that may seep in certain circumstances like those which the characters found themselves in.

The characters' behavioral patterns and sense of judgment are all dependent on the author's purpose and perspective. The characters had their unique difference.

I also feel that there are some things the characters did that made them different and unique. Though I feel like them being all rough was due to the situation they were in.

I found the same thing you did. All the characters seem to have the same voice. Also, they all have a similar style. I'm not sure if that was what the author intended, though. It could have just been how the characters progressed. But I think extremely similar styles make the book lack something. When reading a story, you want the complexities and the differences in the characters to add intrigue.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. There were way too many similarities between the characters. It wasn't good characterization for me because uniqueness is a major part of that.

I think it's hard to have all of the characters be uniquely different because it's common for a writer to base characters off oneself or off the others in their lives, which can be a good or bad thing for the character development.

Yeah I agree with that observation. The characters were mostly the same and I felt the author could have done more to give them unique qualities.

The author's goal and perspective influence the characters' behavioral patterns and sense of judgment. While there are similarities among the characters, there are also distinct differences that, in my opinion, make each character unique.

I feel there are slight differences in the characters but I must agree that they had a lot things in common. I believe it's due to the nature of the story.

After reading the book, I came to the conclusion that all the characters do have a similar personality. This is the reason it was difficult to pick a favorite character. I believe the author also wished to showcase a particular viewpoint.

It would have helped distinguished the characters by giving them different characteristics. This would have made them more memorable.
