Some of the people in the world with the longest lifespans (such as in the Blue Zones), stay active in some form of work (such as farming, or gardening), and researchers have found that the sense of "community" their provides helps them to stay healthy and happy. So, I would say that whether you have a job, or are self employed, or are doing unpaid volunteer work or a working on a creative pursuit, as long as you enjoy it, why stop?
I think if I loved a job so much, I wouldn't actually want to stop. Why stop? If it makes me happy and I love doing it.

Without a doubt! Entrepreneurs will also grow old and no longer be able to carry on with their business. If they plan well they will have a nest egg to fall back on when they retire. For them it is even more crucial as they are wholly in charge of their retirement planning, with minimal help from government institutions.

I know you didn’t want to hear this, but there are a few BIG factors at play in the world today that are going to act to keep most younger generations in the workforce indefinitely. This is all before considering the major hiccup that the covid 19 pandemic has been. A global event that has actually worked to widen the gap between younger generations with fewer assets and more precarious employment, versus older generations which tend to be more secure. Now you might think you are different, you contribute to your 401k, save diligently, subscribe to How Money Works and even invest regularly into the stock market. Well, that’s all great, but I might still have some bad news for you. There are lots of issues at play here… Housing, the stock market and a series of broader economic conditions which might threaten the general assumptions we make about indefinite growth. So, it’s time to learn how money works to find out why we will all be on that grind until we are 120 years old.

I don’t think entrepreneurs must retire ever. Entrepreneurs build the whole business from scratch and to give the reins of it to someone else, is not going to give them the peace of mind that is the requisite for retirement. Also, it triggers their dopamine to be able to fully, energetically be a part of the business they built. It is essential for their long, healthy life. I am saying this, because my dad is an entrepreneur and I don’t think he enjoys retirement. And once you give the reins to someone else, your advice will be considered as interference after a point of time and you won’t like it a bit. It’s your baby remember!

Entrepreneurs also retire. People like Bill Gates had to step down from active day to day running of their companies. They just play advisory roles. When your body cannot bear the burden of active work, it is safe to retire. Be it an entrepreneur or a paid employee.

I believe that everyone should retire. However, for business person's, they may not entirely retire , but can relegate duties to other people while monitoring their activities. So yeah, I partly agree with the author.

I think everyone after working during the majority of their adult years should retire at some point. The body cannot work forever and after supporting you while you work for so many years, you should treat it to rest and relaxation. Enjoying the fruits of your labor as the saying goes.

I definitely think entrepreneurs should retire as well, just like every other person. The best action to take is to hand the management of their business to a competent, tested, and trusted person so that they too can take some time to rest. Yet again, they have to prepare for their retirement period by working hard to save as much as possible in their early days, since they will have no aid from the government.

As far as I know there are retirement plans for the self employed people so they can choose one. No body can work for ever whether employed or self employed. Self employed people should plan ahead for their retirement too.

I don't think anyone should retire. I believe it is advisable to take a short break and get back to work. There will always be something to do even if we are forced to retire.

Yes, entrepreneurs should retire if they feel the need to. You are going to go through life and find interests and lose them as well. It is just like book genres. You start off loving one genre whether it be fantasy or fiction then move on to love adventure because your interests change. If you love what you do every day and you feel the need to do it then by all means do so. However, the minute it changes and it seems more of a chore to get up in the morning and do it then, be done.

I don't think an entrepreneur retires totally. Take for example Steve Jobs who is even late still has a stake in his company. What happens is that a system is put in place that works even when you are no longer there.

Entrepreneurs pride themselves in building a business from scratch to top and the amount of work required for such achievement is a lot. But at a certain point they need to make plans to automate the business or make it a legacy by turning it into a family business.

Entrepreneurs will retire, of course. But their retirement plan will be more crucial and detailed than employees. This is because they have a lot of things they need to consider, especially when their business is progressive. But the choice and the plan will always be in their hand.

I think that entrepreneurs have a different kind if retirement where they delegate their companies to managers but still have supervisory duties.
