I agree with the author that we have outlived the typical retirement mentality. If better outcomes are needed, we ought to view retirement differently from how our forefathers did.

Retirement is different from one culture to another. The African context of retirement is different from retirement in a Western context. To an African mother, for example, retirement means more visits to her children and more time cooking for her grandchildren. in fact, it is a time when most mothers actually look forward to. The Africans do not have a culture of old age homes. To an African child, it is a blessing to host your mother in her old age, so most parents look forward to these visits when they retire.

I definitely agree with this. Retirement shouldn't just be about sitting in a chair and relaxing. It can be more than that. It can be a phase of life to explore and reinvent oneself free of any burden, to do things for the sake of it without any worry.

I kind of agree with the author. I believe you can continue working on your passion well into retirement, you don't need to abruptly stop working but I am not too sure about starting something afresh.

I completely agree with the author. It might seem very easy to tell someone to just retire and rest. The truth is, most people find inactive life very boring. And in old age, it can be very dangerous and life-threatening.
So, picking up a suitable career to retire with remains pertinent, just as the author advised.

I am still thinking about it though but truthfully, I believe retirement should be a time for enjoyment. It should be another phase entirely.

Looking at it as a career may help have a better retirement. people shouldn't think of retirement as the end of their lives anymore.

I don't know about "beginning of a new career, but surely retirement should be the end of one, and especially, in my opinion, the end of a time of feeling tired because of someone else's problems (because work is something that doesn't necessarily belong to you), so it should yes, it should be a new beginning, but not of a new career, but of a new era of your life

Retirement could be boring. You might think one is free from work stress but one is actually venturing into boredom. So, retirement should be the beginning of a new career.

I agree with the author. Retirement should be viewed as a career or job, because that's honestly what it is. We work to have the best retirement (career) possible, to be able to have a good amount of money to support ourselves (to earn lots of money), and to be able to enjoy ourselves (pick a fun career).

I agree with the author that there's a gap between reality and tradition. while tradition allows you to sit and wait for your retirement, reality demands that you take steps to ensure you maximize your benefit from your retirement options.

Yes, I agree with the author. There will come a time when as individuals, we just want to relax and reap the fruits of our labor. I think retirement is the time for that.

To be honest, I think I agree with the author. Retirement in itself is a career. The best career of our lives, one we can and should be looking forward to.

I have seen people live unhappy after their retirement because life became boring without work. But, if retirement is carefully planned and seen as a career. There will be things to keep one busy and happy.

Yes, I agree with the author. Retirement should not be viewed as the end of a career but a transition to a new career. This is whole point of reconfigurement, you get to choose active or quiet retirement and plan for it in advance.
