Roxy was a major part in Steve's doings. Steve didn't take much of his decisions and Roxy was the one who was telling him what to do most of the times.

I think that initially Steve entered the force to be near Roxy and to make her proud. Afterwards he really wanted to make a difference.

That's what it looks like to me. The obvious fact is that if Roxy wasn't in the picture, Steve's life would've turned out way different than it did. His choices are obviously based on Roxy's opinions. He definitely didn't make his own choices.

I feel joining the force was truly Steve's decision, because if it wasn't he would have left when Roxy started having mixed feelings about his Job
But also Roxy influenced a lot of his decisions

I believe he was doing it to please Roxy at first, but after seeing what was going on, he felt compelled to reform the system. I was surprised that he would forego law school only to be close to Roxy, and his continual worry about what Roxy would think of him was alarming. At no particular point did Steve make a decision without considering ''what would Roxy think of me?'' and so I believe he was more of a puppet to Roxy.

When one is being influenced by his feelings and strong desire to please, it is difficult to argue that he isn't being influenced by Roxy in the decisions he makes. After all he did join the police force just to please her.

Every action by Steve was influenced by Roxy. He knew what he wanted by all his decision was focused on Roxy. Therefore, he didn't make his decision on his own.

Steve was making his own decisions. Although Steve had a tough time in the police department, he didn't quit because he feared Roxy would be disappointed in him, and Steve would have attended law school if Roxy wasn't in his life.

Steve was being manipulated by Roxy. This made me mad because this guy was an adult who was supposed to think for himself. So not, Steve was not making his own decisions.

Although Steve did not want to leave Roxy, I do believe he did make the decision to join the police force on his own, I remember he also talked to his Dad before he talked to his girlfriend. I think he really thought he could help make some changes when he joined the police force. But then when he found there was corruption and crime within the police force, he decided to leave.

Everybody is influenced by somebody. Everybody is acted upon by outside influences that direct the course of their lives and as such I wouldn't say that he's being led by Roxy. He was inspired by her but it was his own personal decision to join the police force.

I believe that as much as Steve made his decisions on his own, he based them on Roxy, and how they would affect her .

I think he made his own decisions. I think they heavily relied on what Roxy wanted or what Roxy thought, but isn't that was all people in love do? Consider the feelings and wants of the other person? He didn't fight any of it or complain about any of it. He chose to go with her to visit her mother; he chose to join the police force; he chose not to go to law school, so that he could be near the one he loved and wanted to spend the rest of his life. Were they always the right decisions to make her happy? Probably not but don't we all make mistakes when it comes to love?

A lot of it had to do with Roxy. He felt somehow inferior to her and wanted to prove that he can do more.

No, Steve is not making his decisions. Roxy has been a great influence on his actions. She elicits his choice of career. Steve forgoes some important things because of her. From another angle, I think He is trying to impress her.
