Is Steve making his own decisions?

Steve did not make his own decision in anyway. Roxy was the master puppeteer as far as I am concerned. I think he let that happen because he was blinded by love.

Well, although Roxy was a main factor, Steve continued on his own.
She pushed him into this with her own excitement and, seriously, if it wasn't for her, Steve's future would have taken another course (like entering law school just as he planned) but she pulled him into all this by taking him to protests and so on. However, later on Roxy became an obstacle when she started pointing out that he became like them just because of the uniform, and when she was generally pushing him out of her life. But Steve continued on the path untilthe end we met.

Steve was not socially aware and all his decisions were made just to please Roxy. That is quite sad, but love can make you do crazy things.

For me, Steve made all his decision in the interest of all citizens. Roxy was influencing him somehow initially but at a point where Roxy disagree with his decisions, he continued with the struggle which resulted in the termination of the relationship.

I think Steve wasn't making any of his decisions completely. All his decisions were made by Roxy and he just followed them accordingly.

I don't think Steve made decisions all by himself, most of his decisions were influenced by how Roxy would react, if she would like it or not and if it wouldn't cause her inconvenience.

Most of his decisions were highly influenced by Roxy. He always thought about what she would think of him or how he would stay close to her and protect her.

Roxy has a great influence on him. He makes some decisions only because of Roxy and their relationship. He does things to please her because of love, or perhaps because he thinks he is the only person she has.

Do you guys also get the feeling that Steve is just following what Roxy says?
I mean, I understand Roxy's fight; I do. But I wonder if Steve would've joined the police or if, once in the police force, he would've joined the "system" if it weren't for Roxy.
Take, for instance, the following quote: "They had questioned law school after Kent State, but he took this different path. Now he had this new plan that they needed to discuss. It would put them back on track." (p. 190)
Are all his actions guided by a desire to please her? Or is he truly socially aware?

I think Roxy gave him that push he needed to fight for something bigger than himself. I don't really like how most of his actions seem to be centred around her, like how he makes a decision partly to stay with her. I never felt that he grew past the Steve-Roxy unit and really became his own man, although I think at the end he did begin to mature and make decisions based on what he felt was right and what he wanted.

I also share the same feeling that Steve follows what Roxy directs. Most of his decisions seem inspired by an enormous desire to appease her spirit.
