This was a toxic relationship. Roxy was calling all the shots and Steve had no choice but to follow because of the love he had for her. In the end, Roxy cheats leaving Steve to attend to his broken heart.

Communication is the bane of every strong relationship. Steve and Roxy lacked communication. I believe Steve sacrificed way too much.

I may not be an expert on love affairs but though their love may not be healthy considering the too many circumstance surrounding them, but their love was never toxic.

I feel the relationship was one sided. Steve loved her too much and gave his all for her. She didn't do the same. It was sad as the relationship became toxic for both parties.

In as much as there were too may sexaul scene in their love, their love may be perfect or ideal, but is was not toxic in anyway.

It was a toxic love, Steve was giving way more love than she deserves. Roxy used him. He lived his life for her for nothing.

Their love was healthy at first but grew toxic. I feel Steve is so dependent on Roxy and she didn't reciprocate the level of love he had for her. At a point, I wished they ended everything

I would not call it toxic. Roxy is there to push Steve to the limit to make him achieve his goals and that's what exactly she did.

That is how love should be. It must be an unbreakable bond no matter how immense the challenges may be.These two Continued loving each other although at some points the pace of their love seemed to slow to almost stopping. But still, they continued. So I see their love as healthy.

Although the love they both shared lacked communication which is a very important aspect of any relationship, I wouldn’t say theirs was toxic. They had their ups and downs but they tried to make it work which is really the aim in a relationship, making it work.

I don't think it was the least bit toxic. It was a relationship between two people in the process of discovering who they were, simultaneously relating to another person's needs. This isn't a great balancing act at any age, but in the exploration years of college, particularly at this time in history, I see it as being more difficult. If the relationship was truly toxic, then the book would not have ended the way it did, with the lovers/friends still working toward this balance.

I wouldn't say it was toxic, but they did begin to have a breakdown in communication when their lives went in separate directions. They grew into two different people with independent thought processes. Steve joining the police force exposed him to life in the real world while Roxy was focused on achieving her grades.

It was fine, but they lost communication along with everything good about their relationship.
