Re: Themes in the book

Post by Mercy Udeokeke »

The book has so many themes which are the theme of war, love, injustice, human right, and many more. I can relate to the theme of human rights due to what is happening in our society today where those in power are corrupting the system and the people have little say in the matter.

The book had lots of themes but I think one theme that kept resonating in my head was police brutality.

There was a wide range of themes, including young adults, life choices, racism, discrimination, women's rights, war and the impacts of war, consistency with choices, police brutality, corruption, creating change, activism, love, politics, etc. Everything came together flawlessly.

The book explores a variety of subjects while documenting a significant period in American culture—demonstrated through concepts such as cruelty, love, and women's rights.

Police brutality is the most glaring of themes and it is very relevant as such things still happen in our world today. Governments of the world must find lasting solutions to this century old menace.

The author covered a variety of topics inside this book. I think the most prominent one though was police brutality, which was heavily reflected in how the police treated the Vietnamese.
