Well, I think Steve made his own decisions, just that they were greatly influenced by Roxy
It's saddening that the decision begins to take him away from Roxy.

Steve makes his own decisions, although they are highly influenced by various influences, the most notable of which is Roxy. Steve would not have been in Providence at all if Roxy hadn't been in the picture. He was influenced, but he also made his own decision to stay in the force rather than leave.

I believe that a person's behavior can change as a result of love. Roxy was the center of Steve's life plan. He first desired to pursue law so that he could be near Roxy. Additionally, he required Roxy's assistance when he sought to join the police force. In addition, Roxy was the reason he left the apartment.

I believe he is. Steve sees what's happening around, and really wants to make a difference. So I believe he is making his own decisions.

I agree with you that Steve's decisions were mainly to stay with Roxy, but eventually the same decisions ledvto their estrangement.

I am nearly finished with the book; this is my opinion regarding Steve's decisions.
I am of the mind that yes, Steve is making his own decisions. Those decisions are heavily weighted by his drive to keep Roxy in his life. I have heard people say that 'Love can make you do the strangest things.' I have found that Love, as an emotion, is capable of consuming decisions to be made, as well as other emotions.

Yes, I also have the feeling. Steve was trying to make a decision that will make their love a little more strong. He was trying to change the system which Roxy want him to change and that is the reason why he joined the police not knowing it will make them a little bit more apart. If weren't for Roxy, he wouldn't have planned to go to law school.

I agree that Steve's choices are influenced by Roxy. Perhaps this is the cause for the rift in their relationship. He desired for Roxy to see that he was trying to create a better place for her, and was afraid of a life without her.

Roxy might have initiated it, but in the end, Steve made his own decision to join the force. His decisions from there was also his own based on the fact the she basically turned on him.

It is somehow obvious that Steve is not making his own decision, as he loves her such that he wants to be with her all time. Therefore his wants to be with her made him always bend his thoughts and follow what would please Roxy and end up not losing her

For me, there is nothing that love cannot accomplish. In Steve's case, I feel that love is capable of doing that to a person. Steve put Roxy at the center of his life plan. He initially desired to major in law in order to be near Roxy. He also required Roxy's help when he decided to join the police force. And it was Roxy who motivated him to leave the apartment.

I do not think he is making his own decision, I believe his decisions are influenced by others that live around him.

Before getting in, his decision was influenced by Roxy. He didn’t want to lose her and he wants to show that he could do it. But by the time, he got into the police force, Steve took the reins of his decisions.

Yes, I think Steve was only following Roxy because every decision he made was so that he can be a part of Roxy's life but Roxy never had to change her dreams or adjust her life to be with Steve.
