I always get irritated by the excessive use of profanities. So, yes this affected my enjoyment of the book. Even if such characters use a lot of profanities, this does not justify using such expressions in every single page.

Not really bothered about it since the book was set in a timeline of unrest and the plot revolves around police brutality, drug and sex liberalism; so you would expect that reactions to certain issues won't be civil.

It was so bad it made me start wondering at the appropriateness of making this book BOTM. It also left a bad aftertaste. And yet it was compelling enough that I read it. I don't know what to make of that.🤦🏾
I did not mind the profanity. Some people actually talk like that.

In my perspective, the continuous profanity, especially coming from the younger generation, was annoying. But the book has a solid reputation. I suppose the author intended to make it seem authentic.

I was in no way bothered about the profanity in the book. It seemed to fit the theme expressed by the book.

The book indeed had excess profanities but I don't think it affected the book's plot in any way. I was after enjoying the book's storyline, so it's profanity didn't bother me

I understand that some people are especially sensitive to profanity. I don't use swear words in my daily life. But in this case, I think it makes the dialogues believable. "Super-macho" cops, such as Steve's colleagues probably would've spoken that way.

I agree! The profanity is fine for me. Fits the storyline of the book.

Yes, the profanity was constant throughout the book. The author should have avoided using it too often. Repated profanity affects the reading.

It was all okay to me. The other good aspects of the book outweigh the profanities.

Though the author was trying to make it real to readers, the usage of profane words was in excess throughout the book which makes the book limited to adult readers only.

There were too many profane words in the book quote alright, but I don't think it bothered me. I am of the opinion that different writers have different ways and styles of writing. Same applies to choice of words. As the author of this book used many profanities, I had no problems with it.

The choice of words of the author is reflection the way the author likes to express himself. It is obvious that profane words are part of his diction. And I don't think it was excessive in anyway. For me, I would even say that it makes his characters human.

I am quite aware that the use of profanities bothers some readers, that is why it is good to mention whether or not a book contains profanities in a review. This will help readers that are sensitive to such things to avoid the book. The profanity in this book wasn't a big deal for me.
