I've just been thinking about this and man, the world can be harsh and hard. I have drifted away from God on occasions that weren't half as bad as Tripodo's, seeing him hold on to it despite the atrocities he faced was stunning and inspirational. I do not even know what to tell God after my prayers are not answered in difficult moments.

People generally believe that God is everlasting and all knowing. Those who believe in him always believe that he'll protect them. In the absence of this, they tend to falter, not knowing that all things work together for good.

I think it is very common for a person to lose faith after traumatic experiences. I have questioned certain things and I haven't even had a traumatic experience yet. It takes a lot to keep going as not only one's faith is questioned during these events.

Whether or not a person loses faith in God after trauma is individual and highly subjective. What might cause Person A to lose faith may just be a regular ordeal for Person B. In my experience, loss of faith is a gradual breakdown born of hurt, confusion, and a feeling of powerlessness. It all depends on the constitution of the individual. Faith, whether great or small can be lost.

Most often people tend to lose their faith after traumatic experiences. I feel it's normal as humans. But when we remember that most of those tragedies are a test to our faith we need to stay strong again and believe firmly in God.

Sometimes, another's trauma can also cause one to lose faith in God. I myself being one of them. While nothing bad has happened to me, it was pretty easy for me to start questioning his existence after seeing the losses of others.

Yes, most people lose faith after losing a loved one. Tripodo's case was inspiring because he did not leave time for questions to God. He kept on believing.

I think it happens more often than not.
I was a fervent Christian until I lost my mom 4 years ago. I had prayed, sowed, cried, praised. I didn't understand why he would let me enter 18years without a mother.
I still don't understand. I'm full of resent. I'm trying to find my way back, but it's so hard

When Ises a loved one it is endure. So blame it on nature, some blame it on God, some may even hate them selves for the loss. But those that hold onto their faith will be the ones to narrate it as a tale in the future. They will also use it to encourage others

Tragedy happened to my friend, and sadly unlike the author of this book, she lost faith. I feel like it happens a lot, but we as humans would rather see a success story, a story of someone persevering, rather than some one giving up which is a very human thing to do. So in contrast that type of story is told a lot less.

I am an atheist as well, so I get your confusion.
Looking around my family, I can tell everyone is different in this regard. Someone perceives pain as somewhat an affront from God, they feel betrayed, and they're angry, so they lose faith. On the other hand, someone else perceives pain just as another test, and they find comfort in their faith.

People who are not matured in their religion always fail to cheer up and continue their faith in God. But sometimes, there are some people that I have seen who blow my mind. They don't give up on their faith, rather they solidify it. I think this takes a deep relationship with God.

Unlike the author's solid faith in God, many people easily access lose their faith in God during difficult times, as they're unable to withstand it.

Tragical experiences and losing a loved one would make people react in different ways. Some might falter in faith and some might strengthen their faith. Holding onto faith isn't easy at all. But I'd say nothing comes easy in life.
