This is just a general phenomenon in our present age, I have heard stories of people who after a traumatic experience will lose their faith in God. This is because going through the experience, you had hoped that you'd get supernatural help, and you strongly believe. When it doesn't happen, you start questioning everything. Therefore getting to a point of seeing the good out of a difficult situation is nerve wrecking.
It is really hard to just hope and have faith in God, but if we should realize that it is just a taste of faith, we will be made strong.

Compare Job's circumstances with Ron's. However, the two men were never lacking in their faith. People this days hastily lose their faith if their prayers aren't answered. I think we should tend to be patient, and God might eventually answer us

They don't completely lose it but they lose their way and start to question God. However when time goes by they realize that they were wrong and start to rekindle their faith.
To say that someone has strong unshakable faith is to not question God in whatever stage of grief u are in. You should rather return to God during those situations
I completely agree with you. At one point in life or the other, some people's faith are shaken by traumatic experience. But that didn't mean they totally lost their faith in God.

Missing Person wrote: 02 Sep 2022, 15:30 I've seen a lot of discussion about how inspiring Tripodo's faith in God was. I've also seen many stories of Christians holding onto their faith after losing a loved one. In fact, I've seen so many of these stories of Christians holding onto their faith after a traumatic experience that I've come to the conclusion that the majority of Christians hold onto their no matter how much pain and suffering they experience, and that suffering is not the principle reason why most Christians lose their faith in God.

If my hypothesis is correct and the majority of Christians still have faith in God after losing their loved ones or going through some traumatic experience, then what exactly is so inspiring about Ron Tripodo's experience? Why were so many OBC readers impressed with Tripodo's faith? As an atheist, I find it difficult to understand some readers admiration for Tripodi's faith.

If the majority of Christians lost their faith in God after a traumatic experience then I would understand how inspiring Tripodo's faith would seem. But this is not the case. I've seen trailers for Christian movies talk about Christians becoming atheists after losing a loved one. For example, in the movie Let There Be Light, Dr. Sol Harkens lost his son to cancer and then became an atheist. The movie is about how Harkens regains his faith. If Harken's experience is a common one, then that would mean Tripodo's faith was a very impressive feat, if not that would mean that, at least in my eyes, his faith was a not meaningful factor in the heartbreaking ordeal he had to endure.
I think there's a comparison element that's at work here. I think that people who viewed Tripodo's unwavering faith in God despite the loss, compare that to how they would react, or how they have reacted, to feelings of great loss. Religious people pray constantly for the health of their loved ones, and if something tragic happens to those people, it may form feelings of betrayal, which logical and reasonable. So, Tripodo's faith in God becomes something to admire from that viewpoint.

Most of the time, people do not lose faith in God. The traumatic event separates them from God, but all they need is assistance and faith that God still loves them.

After catastrophic events, the majority of people do, in fact, lose religion. Their tales are just occasionally not told. It might be quite difficult to be a believer and deal with a challenging situation. You had hoped to get divine assistance during the encounter, and you still firmly think that you did, which is why. You start to doubt everything when it doesn't occur. So it might be really stressful to reach the point where you can recognize the positive aspects of a challenging scenario. It is a testament to their faith that they have survived and came out better that they have. the justification for celebrating them. To my mind.

It is very easy to lose your faith in God especially if the loved one you have lost was very close to your heart. Humans are bound to crack at one point or the other and this mostly happens when we are on the very end. I have seen strong believers who would trust in their God in everything, turn away from their values and give up their faith just because God's will had prevailed. We often don't get any explanation from God himself and this often leads to the question if He exists.

It depends upon what the individual wants to perceive. Sometimes they just want someone to blame.

Losing faith in God is common now. People have different reasons for losing faith but from my perspective, not knowing God’s schedule is the main reason, some conclude that God is inactive since they don’t see him addressing their challenges. But many times we tend to forget that patience is master key when in need of God’s help.

Most people lose faith in god after a traumatic experience. The loss of someone dear to us creates an unbearable void, but we strive to get it together somehow. But the memories dangle in our senses, and we lose faith saying that god would never punish us in such a way, so indeed there is no god.

People often lose faith easily. However, I wouldn't blame them because it's completely human. I only wonder what happens next after they've lost faith. Does it make everything better?

When people tell their stories about their experiences, they typically do so after having successfully navigated such situations. Because of this, it is not unexpected to us when we read, hear, or see accounts of people who continued to practice their faith after losing a loved one. The fact that few of those who lose faith in such circumstances share their experiences doesn't indicate that such people don't exist or that their numbers aren't bigger. Who shares their story and who doesn't is all that differs.

In my opinion, people face many trials throughout their life. When they are desperate, they are angry about anything and everything. Among them, they are angry with God and in many cases even lose their faith. But over time they realize that love and faith in God is what saves people from trials.

I believe everyone's faith journey in the face of a traumatic experience is unique. Several factors influence a person's belief. First of all, what was the individual's faith built on? Was it a belief that trusting God will guarantee an easy life or what is a belief built on one's assurance of Jesus as the way, truth and life?

I just listened to a sermon about being patient and how often people have fallen due to impatience. I can't say how often people lose their faith in God, but I can say that people usually expect something from God. What happens then when we don't get what we want? I know, we feel angry, and thus turn away from God. A faith that can endure a trail of hardships, in my opinion, is one that can withstand the test of time─like Abraham's─and that makes it admirable.
