A lot of people don't have the kind of faith and patience that Ron had, and I think it isn't good. As a Christian, I have faith and believe in God. Patience is also a virtue that most people lack.

The loss of loved one is very depressing. People always tend to lose their faith in God after such experiences. They question him as to why he didn't save them. But Gid works in mysterious ways and his actions shall not be questioned.

Normally, it is hard believing in one's faith after a traumatic experience.
Few persons are not touched but those that are touched recovers eventually.

I don't know how often people lose their faith in GOD after experiencing serious traumas. But I believe that just like everything in life, we are meant to learn from negatives and do more positives. However, losing faith, drive, motivation, encouragement, etc, in my opinion, comes as a natural reaction to a negative or traumatic experience. Those who stand firm and bounce back, or those who rise after being dealt such heavy blows are admired and commended and looked up to as examples to follow or role models.

This question is relative. In my opinion, most of people tend to loose faith when they face challenges. Therefore, Tripodo's actions are relatable.

People lose faith on God after a traumatic experience because of the subconscious belief that when you believe in God, you are sheltered from all suffering. So after a traumatic experience one feels like God shortchanged them. It is like one is asking God why He let that happen to them.

Holding on to faith when situations are not exactly in your favour takes a lot of bravery and faith, loosimg faith is so easy I mean it's almost like the first thing that comes to our mind to do When facing bad times that's why it's commendable to see people stand out for theirs

It's not often that people lose faith in God after the loss of a loved one or any other traumatic experience. A lot of people keep their faith in God believing that he knows best for their lives.

Well, I think if you're a Christian you would understand how hard and tenacious it is to build faith. Many people faith is fickle, but to have such a faith that temptation and trauma can't overcome, is really beautiful. This is the beauty of Christianity. It would always be awesome and inspiring to us. No matter how many times we hear of it.

Missing Person wrote: 02 Sep 2022, 15:30 I've seen a lot of discussion about how inspiring Tripodo's faith in God was. I've also seen many stories of Christians holding onto their faith after losing a loved one. In fact, I've seen so many of these stories of Christians holding onto their faith after a traumatic experience that I've come to the conclusion that the majority of Christians hold onto their no matter how much pain and suffering they experience, and that suffering is not the principle reason why most Christians lose their faith in God.

If my hypothesis is correct and the majority of Christians still have faith in God after losing their loved ones or going through some traumatic experience, then what exactly is so inspiring about Ron Tripodo's experience? Why were so many OBC readers impressed with Tripodo's faith? As an atheist, I find it difficult to understand some readers admiration for Tripodi's faith.

If the majority of Christians lost their faith in God after a traumatic experience then I would understand how inspiring Tripodo's faith would seem. But this is not the case. I've seen trailers for Christian movies talk about Christians becoming atheists after losing a loved one. For example, in the movie Let There Be Light, Dr. Sol Harkens lost his son to cancer and then became an atheist. The movie is about how Harkens regains his faith. If Harken's experience is a common one, then that would mean Tripodo's faith was a very impressive feat, if not that would mean that, at least in my eyes, his faith was a not meaningful factor in the heartbreaking ordeal he had to endure.
It is rather uncommon to see a Christian who has undergone hardship and suffering, and still stands steadfast in his belief in God in today's world. The faiths of most people are fickle and cannot withstand the heavy storms the forces of evil throw at human beings.

Most often, when a horrible event occurs, people tend to lose faith. I believe that to be typical and human. However, when we are reminded that the majority of these catastrophes serve as a test of our faith, we must regain our strength and never give up.

I'm a believer and I acknowledge Ron's faith, it is hard to trust in God when things are not working to your favour even as a believer. So for Ron's character holding on to faith is truly commendable and inspiring it inspires me to trust God and not even give up when things are not going well

Actually, I believe that those with a weak faith usually get shaken by the loss of closed ones which may affect their faith negatively to the point of losing it. Only those with a strong belief can withstand such sorrows as they know that this is the true nature of this life and that God will remain with them as long as they remain faithful to Him. This strong faith is truely admirable.

One reason for my wavering belief is the fact that I see some situations, and I lose my faith and wonder why things like that happen, so I can agree with the fact that people lose their faith after a traumatic experience.

This is an excellent question. I've never known any true Christians/believers, so I can't answer. I do like reading the replies though.
