I agreed with you. Inclusion of Patsy's life before the sickness would allow the readers to measure the gravity of the impact of the sickness on Ron and Patsy too. Also, detailing the sacrifices of Linda would also serve as a way of appreciating her. However, I felt like including the two in-depth stories will make the book more voluminous and might loose the message along the way.

Did anyone else feel that they wished they knew more about Patsy's life and personality before the illness? I wished Ron Tripodo had spoken more about Patsy's life and relationships before the illness and how they changed after the illness. I also felt that his descriptions of Linda were kind, but did not reflect the enormous sacrifice that she made to care for Patsy. One way to honor this sacrifice would be to describe her personality, thoughts, and feelings while she was caring for Patsy.

Yes! You are correct. If the author talked to much about Patsy's life before her illness, the book would be too lenghty. I feel where he began is the best place. He touched minor bases and emphasized more on his themes.

I also wanted to connect with Patsy's persona before she became ill. I questioned if she showed Ron the same level of affection that he did.
