I also think that the author could have improved the character development of Patsy. I would have liked to find out her mindset and beliefs before her rare illness, but I understood that the main focus was on Ron's faith in God and his love for his wife.

I think that you are right. Patsy deserved to get her story told, too. I think that this book's focal point was perfect, but I also think that telling more of Patsy's life before the illness would have completed her story in a way.

As I was reading, I frequently wished that there had been more insight into Patsy's life before her illness. I feel like it would be interesting to read how overcoming the illness changed her outlook on life more in depth.

Yeah, more information about Patsy before the illness would have made for a better understanding of the love dynamic between her and Ron.

I agree with this. More depth to a character gives more understanding of their choices. So I feel all those conflicts shouldn't be left out.

I agreed with you. Inclusion of Patsy's life before the sickness would allow the readers to measure the gravity of the impact of the sickness on Ron and Patsy too. Also, detailing the sacrifices of Linda would also serve as a way of appreciating her. However, I felt like including the two in-depth stories will make the book more voluminous and might loose the message along the way.

I totally agree with you. As much as I appreciated the length of the book, it would have felt good to know about her personality b4 the illness.

I would have also love to know how string their relationship was before the ailment. It would have been lively to get a background story about how strong their love is.

I also love to know more information about Patsy's life but I agree with @Owuamanam Eberechukwu that including these details will make the book wordy.

laura_mcc wrote: 09 Sep 2022, 21:10 Did anyone else feel that they wished they knew more about Patsy's life and personality before the illness? I wished Ron Tripodo had spoken more about Patsy's life and relationships before the illness and how they changed after the illness. I also felt that his descriptions of Linda were kind, but did not reflect the enormous sacrifice that she made to care for Patsy. One way to honor this sacrifice would be to describe her personality, thoughts, and feelings while she was caring for Patsy.
I think i totally agree with you. However on a second thought, it could also make the book wordy and excesively detailed. I love the book the way it is.
Yes! You are correct. If the author talked to much about Patsy's life before her illness, the book would be too lenghty. I feel where he began is the best place. He touched minor bases and emphasized more on his themes.

I also wanted to connect with Patsy's persona before she became ill. I questioned if she showed Ron the same level of affection that he did.
