I agree with you on this. I would've loved to know more about Patsy. I would've been a loved to know more about her personality and life before the illness came.

I totally agree. Ron was supposed to give more details before the sickness. Their stories would have been interesting from my own point of view.

I really like this observation, however I felt Ron knew what was best for his book, moreover even without those details the book is still a great read and the lessons learnt are crucial, that's all that matters

I totally agree with your point. I've always had issues with author who do not give sufficient information about a particular character. I think it'd be nice to have details about Patsy's personality, but on the other hand, I think if it is not necessary then it should not be added.

You're right but as he said above, the book might wind up being unnecessary detailed. There are lots of things that could be inserted into the book to give it a more high key note, but the way it is is just right.

I agree with you on this one. I also felt that the character of Patsy and Linda were not fully developed. In my opinion, the author could have included a detailed information about them. For example, the author could have included Patsy's life and relationships before the illness.

Yeah, I totally agree that more information on Patsy would have been appreciated so that readers can see the difference that took place.

I don’t think knowing much about her life before the ailment would have made any difference to me. The book served its purpose.

Maybe, the author didn't see the need. The book is lovely already, without it, so I don't think if it was added, it would be playing a big role in the story. Another thing may have been expression, like in Linda's case. There might have been difficulty in expressing everything about Linda's and Patsy's life.

laura_mcc wrote: 09 Sep 2022, 21:10 Did anyone else feel that they wished they knew more about Patsy's life and personality before the illness? I wished Ron Tripodo had spoken more about Patsy's life and relationships before the illness and how they changed after the illness. I also felt that his descriptions of Linda were kind, but did not reflect the enormous sacrifice that she made to care for Patsy. One way to honor this sacrifice would be to describe her personality, thoughts, and feelings while she was caring for Patsy.
I don't think many people would appreciate it that much if the book went into details while trying to provide a backstory. Unless it is important to understanding the story

In my opinion the book already explain enough the way it is. It is the struggle Ron and Linda face that bring highlight to their faith and love and that is what matters for me.

Sometimes words alone can't describe how wonderful someone has been in the life of another other. I believe that Ron would have wanted to describe her kindness but words wouldn't be able to do it all.

I agree that Ron should have detailed his life with Patsy before the illness. The reader is left with the assumption that things were moving fine before the illness.

Probably, the author did not find that necessary and it was not in his plans. Although, I'm also curious to know what happened before the illness, I think the book contained what was needed.
