In It Together review
It is an extremely easy book to get into. I tend to be skeptical of books that are trying to promote a 'belief system' but this was a pleasant surprise because the author is not trying to 'plug' a religion or some commercial scheme. The author demonstrates a profoundly careful approach to many modern life issues that plague modern humanity, such as our attitudes to poverty and starving children in some countries when there is also so much wealth in the world.
Any intelligent and thoughtful person will be aware of the many dangers facing modern civilisation such as climate change and environmental degradation. We also have yearnings to want more for ourselves. Reading this book helps a person reconcile what we as individuals we can do to try and make the world a better place. The book explains in a caring way how we can adopt a positive approach to life without needing to resort to a particular religion. This book demonstrated that you don’t necessarily have to be a religious person, or someone who attends church every day to be able to evaluate your life in a way that is honest to yourself and who you really are.
The chapters are well structured and develop the themes in a logical yet interesting manner. The narrative did encourage me to read with a open mind. In doing so, I realized the author must have developed the text after much research and reflective thought, and he was trying to make us understand how we might attain a a feeling of unity, peace, love, and acceptance.
The book was also well-edited and proof-read - this is important and helps to make the narrative more persuasive. It is a book you can recommend and pass along to family members and friends. I rate this book 4 out of 4.
