Post by Heidi M Simone »

The author, Eckhart Aurelius Hughes (Scott Hughes) offers his readers eleven suggestions toward the end of his book. Which one(s) do you feel is either most applicable to your life or is simply your favorite?

Please explain why it’s the most applicable or why it is your favorite. 😊

————————————
Here are the list of suggestions from the book in case you need a refresher:

1. “Be Honest. Let go of denial, delusion, and self-deceit.” (Pg. 153)

2. “Let go of trying. Accept the unchangeable.” (Pg. 158)

3. “Let go of fighting that sacrifices inner peace. Surrender to truth.” (Pg. 162)

4. “Let go of moralizing or similarly judgmental language.” (Pg. 164)

5. “Let go of resentment, hate, and unforgiveness towards others, including your past self. Accept their choices, and accept them as they are.” (Pg. 169)

6. “Let go of possessiveness.” (Pg. 176)

7. “Let go of false idolization of positivity and superficial happiness. Accept the shadow of all things including yourself.” (Pg. 180)

8. “Embrace discomfort. Let go of comfort addiction.” (Pg. 182)

9. “Let go of future idolization. Embrace the present.” (Pg. 185)

10. “Let go of restlessness and overcommitment. Do less, better.” (Pg. 196)

11. “Just Love Everything and Everyone” (Pg. 207)

For me, it is "Let go of possessiveness." This was my favorite because if we avoid possessiveness, then it will be easy to take life as it comes and live one day at a time. Most of the pain we carry is attributed to our possessiveness of things we can no longer have. We will be able to see the beauty of every moment and not cling to what is gone.

I think the third one is the most applicable to my life. i often want to fight super super hard to preserve something that "means the world" to me, but things like this often just aren't meant to be. It's some of the most precious things that have to be surrendered at times

This suggestion spoke volumes to me. “Let go of resentment, hate, and unforgiveness towards others, including your past self. Accept their choices, and accept them as they are.” (Pg. 169)

I had difficulty with a neighbor which caused me so much stress. After reading In It Together, I now understand that I need to accept them as they are and let go of resentment. Thank you for helping me find peace.

The fifth one is what I really need to work on. My whole life, I’ve struggled with forgiveness. It doesn’t matter if I need to forgive others or myself. I’ve been hurt a lot (who hasn’t?), and I guess it’s so easy to hold on to the pain instead of doing what needs to be done to move on. I’m only hurting myself that way, though.

I can't really say for now. I bought the book a few days ago, and I have just started reading it. So, I would have to go through the book first before I will be better suited to comment on this. I don't want to jump into the ending and read it up; I want to read through it first so I can know the background on which those suggestions are made.

For me number 10 is definitely the one! I tend to over-extend myself to keep everyone happy, and end up feeling frustrated and resentful toward those who take up so much of my time!

My favorite one is let go of resentment, hate, and unforgiveness towards others, including your past self. Accept their choices, and accept them as they are. This is because when we put down the burden of other people's choices and actions and even our own, and live in the present, we flourish. Letting go is also good for our mental health.

My favorite is Let go of trying. Accept the unchangeable. I think this changes my perspective on life. I would like to mention that Embrace discomfort. Let go of comfort addiction is my weak point. I'm struggling with this aspect and this book is a lot of help.

Embracing discomfort really spoke to me. I find myself craving comfort, and it does negatively impact my life. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone helps tremendously with my inner peace.

I feel as though embracing the present is something that many people, including myself, struggle with so I believe that it's a much needed suggestion for people.

I find “Embrace discomfort. Let go of comfort addiction.” to be the most applicable to my life. It is extremely easy for me to choose the path of least resistance and to lean into my comfort zone ever since I was little. It does not help to also label myself as shy because it causes me to dig deeper into my comfort zone. By realizing this lesson/advice, I have made incremental changes in my life that is slowly, but surely growing my comfort zone and challenging my addiction to comfort.

I'd say the first is most applicable to me currently, "Be Honest." I'm at a point where I can't keep fooling myself into believing certain things. It's important that I be honest with myself and stop being in denial of who I am.

I found “Let go of resentment, hate, and unforgiveness towards others, including your past self. Accept their choices, and accept them as they are.” to apply most to me. I would try to let go but it's not easy. but I am confident that I will get there soon.
