The main thing that has stayed with me from this book is the fact that most of us like technology and want the most up-to-date models. 'Terms of Service' has made me question my own concept of the future and the fact that all the technology COULD, in the end, lead to a dystopian world of our own making! A scary thought!

It is really scary but we hope the human race never comes to that level. But if you ask me, I think the real problematic aspects of technology largely come from our untamed quest to unnecessarily experiment with dangerous zones and angles - sometimes just for fun and show off.

I liked a part towards the end where Kim wonders if the wrong guys won the war and claimed power. This goes to show that regardless of the moral weight of each side in a conflict, history will always be written from the perspective of the victors. Centuries in the future, no one will even know if they were the oppressed or the oppressors.

I like the dynamics that this book is associated with. Technology can be used both as a tool for convenience and a means of destruction. The aspect of 'control’ is emphasized in greater detail to an extent. At times, as we saw with Kim’s daily encounters, things often got out of hand and she was finding it hard to adjust. So both the pros and cons operate on a linear level.

This might be a far-fetched point to make but it’s just like the struggle between socialism and capitalism. That idea of everything and everyone being controlled from a center, to me, is a farce. It is only a matter of time till individualism shines through all of that. That’s what happened in Kim’s case. This is my takeaway.
