Yes, it is great for vacation. I still prefer to read real books at home though.

I think when it really comes down to it, an e-reader offers a much wider array of books, encouraging people to try new books they may not have read if it weren't free. While libraries may have "free" books, they have a smaller selection.
Real books give readers a personal connection to a book or novel, but are usually more expensive. It all depends on how much emphasis you place on the story v. the experience.

The kindle helps with commuting on trains, buses, etc. (Portable and lightweight, don't have to lug around a thick book in your briefcase/backpack) That being said, the feel of reading a real book can be nice at times. I take breaks between my kindle and read a real book, which changes things up.

I like the Kindle, but I deeply prefer the physical sensation of reading an actual paper book.

i love my kindle, i tend to carry it with me if i am going on a long trip. its light and compatible and so far i have around 200 books in it. The thing i like most about the kindle is that, it is cheaper to buy most books on an kindle than in paperback so more than 100 of the books i own on it is free.
However i do miss holding the actual book and seeing the front cover, although the kindle does make it easier to read in bed. I still borrow from the library often and buy several books if i see them in bookshop and it doesn't have the eBook sign. i love using them both equally.

Love my kindle even though I was against e-readers at first
If I didn't write, I'd never sleep.

I got a Kindle for Christmas a couple of years ago and love the fact that I can have a 'library' with me at all times. I would like to have the latest kindle but can't see that happening yet.

I don't think a Kindle beats having an actual book though. If I have a series and the author comes out with a new book I still buy the paperback. I need a new bookshelf at home due to the amount of books I have which is why my husband got me a kindle in the first place. However for reading books by new authors and some other quick reads then the kindle works well.

I have a kindle app on my android phone as well as on my Apple MacBook Air. And I think its nice. Of course, its better on my touch screen phone since it feels like having a real kindle. And the app is free. So no extra investment needed. Also available for iPads.

I was hesitant about purchasing my Kindle. I've always loved the way a book feels in my hands. But, after just a couple of weeks and I was hooked. I will never go back to regular books again If I can help it.

I have a Kindle, which I used heaps when I first got it, but, sad to say, I've hardly touched it since I joined Audible and bought an iPad. When I'm not listening to an audiobook, I'm reading on the iPad. It is a great device though.

I love my kindle! I bought it about a year ago and have read over 60 books since then - so about a book a week. The convenience of downloading a book from Amazon via wifi means I'm never without a read. I have a jacket for my Kindle which has an inbuilt light so I can read at night without disturbing my partner. Wonder how you would go moving from paper hardcopy books to a electronic device? If your anything like me you'd never look back, I can't invisage myself abandoning my Kindle and returning to a chunky novel.

Hi y'all how is everyone doing today! Happy Citizenship Day! I love my kindle. I got it as a birthday gift for my Golden Birthday. I am a bibliophile and have mostly bought many free books for my kindle. I have read sixty books until this August when I went to India. When I was on vacation it seems that I just kept reading a book almost every day if I wasn't busy shopping, hanging with family, or going to parties. I still try to regularly go to the library and get books and also get free books from the Harlequin Reader Panel. I loved reading the books on my kindle in India but it was very annoying when I would go out and leave the kindle in the house and when I came back my nieces were reading a different story then the one I was reading. I still have a book shelf in my room and occasionally buy paperbacks at the library and other places.

I own a Kindle since Christmas 2012, and I love it! I read on it everyday and I take it with me every time I leave the house, just in case I come into some free time. I still love to browse the paper books at my local supermarket, but I haven't bought one anymore. I certainly don't miss the feel of a real book in my hands, in fact they used to tire my hands while holding them, and bought a few implements to help with that issue. None did, unfortunately. An e-reader will solve that, as well as the bulk and weight of paper books. Boy, Im so glad I dont have to struggle with them when moving! I got rid (at charity) of a lot of my books precisely for that reason.
Of course, not everything is good to be read on an e-reader, picture books for instance, might not be suitable for a Kindle, but they might be better for tablets or Kindle fire, however I cant say for sure.
I only read for pleasure on my Kindle, so I cant comment on other types of books that might be available on e-readers, such as course work material.
In my opinion a Kindle is perfect for who likes to read, wants to save the planet (allegedly) and moves house!

I love my Kindle! I tend to read heavy books and holding those books for hours is a strain. My muscles in my hand hurt, my wrist hurts. I love to read for long periods of time and my Kindle is the best. Now because I read for long periods of time I prefer the paper like Kindle vs. the Kindle fire. There is a lot less eye strain reading something that looks like paper.
I love that I can look up words right there in the book without having to go find it or just to gloss over the word because I don't know it and I am too lazy to look it up. I love that you can make notes and highlights in the book and it all stays on the same device. If I am researching something, that is a very helpful feature. I love that I can read several books at the same time. I used to never do this before the Kindle (probably because it would be a hassle), but now that I have it, I find it rewarding to do so. I never lose my place, if I get frustrated with a story line, I can set it aside, go to some other book that I love to calm down, and come back and get through it. :) I am sure I am not the only one :) It fits in my purse and isn't heavy no matter how big the book is, and sometimes it will fit in my pockets!

I still purchase "real" books but only the ones that I really like. It saves room on my shelves.;)
