I had been using basic kindle for 3 years. The problem I faced was that there was no back light and I love to read in bed with lights off. So I upgraded to Kindle paperwhite. It's light weight, very easy on the eyes and you can enjoy reading in bed with lights off. What more does life need? Kindle Paper White, hands down.

The Paperwhite has a front light, not a back light. That's a very important distinction. These are totally different technologies with little in common.

The new Kindle Paperwhite is brilliant. Lightweight, great size, and none of the extra stuff you don't need just to get through a good book!
