Based on the reviews I read when this was first listed as book of the month, I decided to buy it as it really sounded like my type of book. I haven't finished itnyet but I'm definitely enjoying it so far. I'm expecting it to be a 5 out of 5 for me.

I loved everything about this book, the way the author narrated the story is quite intriguing. I also fell in love with different characters throughout the book, princess Jarla being my favourite. I was also impressed by the use of irony , for example that part where Delvin is accused of murdering Borlock someone who he sees as a mentor. Generally I loved everything about the book and feel like it deserves a 5 out of 5 rating.

I am not a big fan of magic books and too much fiction. I like books to be a little more realistic and believable. That was not present in this book so I have mixed feelings about it. The characters were very well developed though. So that is a bonus.

I'm still at the beginning of the book and I loved the start. The author love the book's title. It was catchy and got my attention. With my reading progress so far, it will get a high rating.

I am currently still reading this book, and I have to say that Delvin's character is quite interesting. I'm just getting stuck into it now. The book cover really got my attention initially. This is certainly a genre that I really enjoy, so I'm hoping that it doesn't disappoint me.

I found 7 errors in the book, and they were mainly typographical. I think I would award it a perfect score. I think it would be a good book for young readres (6th grade and above) because of lack of profanity and sexual scenes. The magic was a bit less than what I thought it would be. I believe this could easily be a series. I was disappointed with how Jarla and Fionella treated Delvin in the end of the story though.

The beginning of the book was epic. That was a great way to start the book. The events that transpired were so realistic, especially the dilemma of trying to figure out whether or not Delvin killed Borlock. I liked how Delvin's character evolved. His relationship with Freda, the rabbit, was also admirable. It reminds me of my dog, Sydney. I didn't read to notice grammar errors, since I wasn't writing a review of it. The book is okay and satisfies the conditions for a great fantasy book of magic.

I understand why you feel that way. However, seeing that this is a fantasy book, I already opened my mind to encounter some unrealistic situations. But then, the author also did well in some areas to add some elements of realism. For instance, Delvin's relationship with his rabbit could be likened to one's relationship with their pet.

Christell Lindeque wrote: 03 Mar 2023, 11:41 I really enjoyed this book and gave it a 3 out of 4 stars rating back in November. The magic was something different and unique, I loved Princess Jarla's personality and how she took charge and basically kidnapped Delvin. Delvin and Jarla go on an adventure to try and save her kingdom.
I didn't get to review it like you did. But then, I was lucky to have bought it for less than a dollar. The story in this book is priceless. I would say it deserves a perfect rating. But then, I didn't read it to review it. So I didn't pay attention to the editing; I was too engrossed in the story for that.

I love that the character of Delvin goes through so much change during the book. Starting out as a sort of meek character and then gradually becoming much more confident and important character. The author must have spent a lot of time developing the incremental changes to create the degree of character development he went through. I like the author’s writing style. It kept me interested as I was reading. I haven’t finished reading the book yet but I am enjoying the story.

The book was gripping from the very first pages. The suspense was what I appreciated the most. Not much was given at the same time. Most was preserved for the later stage of life, and when it all came out, the wait was appreciated. I would rate the book four out of five stars and recommend it to those who love the fantasy fiction. It was such a nice read that brought much of magic into foreground.

I adored the opening scenes, where Devlin was accused of killing Borlock and then taken into custody. That made for enjoyable reading. Yet as the story went on, I lost faith in Princess Jarla's ability to control him. I unquestionably give this book a score of 4 out of 5. Good job!

I was able to become engrossed in the book fairly quickly. I enjoy reading any novel with magic in it. Delvin's character was also really charming and endearing to me. I admired aspects of him like his humor and love of animals. The book's cover was another thing I adored.
