One of my favorite parts of the book was reading about Celia's journey where she goes to Sophie's house. It was heartwarming to see her experience what a normal and safe household feels like. It was also a turning point for her as she started to come to terms with the fact that her mother was abusive and realized that someone who loved her wouldn't treat her like that.
"I had no interest in being somebody else's muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody."

Celia finally got a good moment where she could feel safe and cared for. That was the highlight of the book for me. It was also nice that she didn't think her mother was such a bad person. I loved her portrayal in the book a lot.

I really liked when Avery connects with Addison, which in turn influences Addison to help Celia, which prompts Celia to find help. It just shows that even a small act of kindness can really grow to change someone's life.

My favorite part of the book was when Booker's cousin held a shaving party. It brought all major parties together giving the story a perfect ending.

It's difficult for someone who is going through alot to share it with someone. Celia being able to open up really touched me and was an outstanding part for me in this book.

I don't really have a favourite part in the book. I loved almost all part of it so I'm just going to go with the whole book because it is awesome. It is something that I look forward to reading over and over again.

My favorite part was when Avery's dad melted after seeing his grandchild. It proved that blood is really thicker than water.

The ending was my most favorite part.
I still have this quote:
"I’m in the ocean, the current tugging me under, and I’m drowning and waving at the people on the shore. But aren’t we all like that? Is anyone actually on the shore? Or are we all drowning and waving and hoping someone will see us?"
“It just hurts too much to admit what is wanted so badly when there’s no guarantee of its availability.”

My favorite part in this book was when Celia reunited with her father. I felt happy for her, finally she could receive real love from her father.

I agree with you this was my favorite part of the book

Cathy Burgin wrote: 03 Aug 2023, 19:28 For me, the moment that Celia found she could be safe was a critical point in the book. When she spoke with her father and found she had a place to live, I felt relieved. While I’m sure the situation won’t be perfect and there will be conflicts ahead, Celia can now finally be a child.

It was going to be hard for me to pick a favourite part of the book, but I must say that your comment covers it all for me and I completely agree with you.

My favorite part of the book is the relationship between the two main characters, Addison and Finny. They have a deep and abiding love for each other, even though they are very different people. Addison is intelligent, sarcastic, and independent, while Finny is kind, compassionate, and always sees the best in people. I love the way the author developed the characters.

MsH2k wrote: 09 Aug 2023, 19:48 My favorite part of the book was at the laundromat when Avery decided to take Jo and Tyler home to live with them. Her sense of doing what was right and acknowledging her family obligation was greater than her fear of how her father would respond. I was impressed by how she remained focused on what was most important—the lives of this woman and her baby—rather than the shock and disappointment of her brother’s actions.
I’d say that was the thickest part of the book for me. A great scene, tbh.
