I hope you read Magnus Chase series by Rick Riordan. It is such a fun series based on Norse Mythology.

I would personally love to see a modern take on Egyptian mythology. There are so many different great myths that it could become a fantastic series. Or even a modern take on Cleopatra. Ancient Egyptian history is full of magic and mysteries. Someone could make a killing writing a series about the gods and goddess!
I am fascinated by Egyptian mythology. Hope you have read Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. I learned a lot about Egyptian gods through that series.

I have not read that series. I'll definitely add it to the TBR stack! I've been reading books about mythology since I was old enough to read. Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Norse, Arthurian, and American folklore are some of my favorites! I even wrote a paper on hieroglyphics in highschool.

Perhaps a modern take of Eros' adventures in a comical manner, until he met Psyche and falls in love. Or, it could be an 'Ocean's Eleven'-like approach to the abduction of Helen of Troy.

Neil Gaiman did that in his novels American Gods and Anansi Boys.

I do enjoy stories that relate to myths and legends. I would like to see more of the lesser known Roman and Greek Gods and Goddesses and their back stories or interactions with the human race.

Here are a few myths and legends I think could be interesting with a modern retelling: The myth of Icarus - The classic story of Icarus flying too close to the sun could be retold with Icarus as a scientist going too far with an experimental aircraft or technology. His unchecked ambition leads to consequences but the themes still resonate.

The epic of Gilgamesh - The ancient Mesopotamian tale of adventure, gods and a quest for immortality could be updated as a sci-fi story with Gilgamesh seeking eternal life through advanced technology. It allows exploring those same ideas about human nature in a futuristic setting.

Scheherazade's Arabian Nights - Famous for stories within stories, this collection from the Middle East could be modernized with Scheherazade as a blogger or podcaster relating fantastical modern tales interwoven with her own story of staying alive. The frame narrative device would adapt well.

Native American folktales - Many tribes have wonderful legends full of anthropomorphic animals and magical beings. Bringing those into a contemporary setting as imaginary creatures interacting in the modern world could make for some unique and engaging new stories.

In my opinion, any book that combines mythology, magic, and adventure is an absolute must-read. I strongly believe that we can learn about cultures of other civilizations from these kinds of books, even if they are not always completely accurate. Anyway, I'd love to read a retelling of Norse gods, but also something about Mayan gods. It would be something new to me.

I would love some around Greek mythology, and also of Maui - living in New Zealand, I hear a lot about Maui's stories but all books I've seen are aimed at children.

I believe an intriguing reimagining of a myth or legend would revolve around Norse Gods, but with a departure from the Marvel interpretation. I'm particularly drawn to the idea of exploring Loki, the enigmatic trickster god, given his captivating role in Norse mythology.

One of my favorite genres is mythology. While I was reading Circe by Madeline Miller, I found the character of Hermis to be very amusing, and I wanted to read more about him. But I could not find any sperate work on him. So, looking forward to reading more about Hermis in a modern retelling.

I would like to read about Zeus and Hades. I want to know the reason behind the power and zest of these two. I would love to see books that discuss them in detail :ugeek2: .
