A little perspective to your question would have helped this discussion. Well, the Arthurian legend remains a myth. Whether or not the characters did exist in history is a conversation for the Ancients. In my opinion, I believe they are fictional characters.

The characters in the book are definitely works of fiction. The author really did well to make them feel real, I felt that, but in the end, they are only a myth, nothing more.

I would say no, Nimue is a work of fiction based on myths and legends. The description of places is amazing, but it is quite obvious that the entire story is a fantasy.

Nimue is based on Arthurian legends and folklore. Unfortunately, anything that cannot be proven is always labeled as fiction. The Arthurian legends could have been real in the context of the message. Such events can never be said to be true unless they are experienced.

Fiction or not, I'd still like to visit Stonehenge and the other sacred sites.

The author did a good job making everything feel grounded in history. Although I wish as much energy would have gone into character and plot.

Others have rightly addressed that the Arthurian characters are, at best, speculatively linked with historical figures. In other words, if people like them existed, we have no solid evidence of it or who exactly they may have been. Of course speculation continues.
However, I would like to add that, in my opinion, the author took extensive creative license with the legendary / mythological material at times. I would say that this is a bit more troubling than the typical book because the author's intent seems to have been to mix fiction with non-fiction (note who there is a whole section at the end of the book with pagan rituals one could perform if one so chooses). The author also makes some errors talking about actual historical figures and events related to the Catholic Church; repeating common misinformation that is not supported by the historical record.

I don't think she is a historical figure. However, Nimue is real and a myth. She is real in our imagination but has no life out of it.

The characters within the book are undoubtedly creations of fiction. The author skillfully brought them to life, and while I sensed their realism, ultimately, they exist solely as myths, nothing more.

This book is about a quest to discover our inner selves. Thus, the story of the Arthurian characters, though historical, is a story about what we can be considering what we will endure. In that sense you can say the book’s characters are real.

It will surprise you to know that there’s no actual proof that an “Arthur” was king of England. That should also mean that Merlin may not have existed, but there’s some whispers that someone who had similar characteristics with him did exist. If Arthur and Merlin only existed in legends and myths, the same goes for Nimue. By the way, I did a video review of this book, on behalf of OBC, and you can watch it here on YouTube.
