How do you vote for the Book of the Month?

Post by Jinn_G »

Hi,
I've got another incredibly stupid question for you all but can anybody tell me the secret to voting in the poll for the April book of the month? Do you just post your vote as reply in the thread?

You need 5-10 posts to be able to vote. Once you have 5 or 10 posts, the voting boxes will be available for you to click on.

Thank you! I'm glad it was just a case of me not reading the requirements thoroughly. :)

In the old nominations forum for Book of the Month, the topic has been closed because we're supposed to be able to nominate directly from bookshelves. I don't see this option anywhere. Am I just missing it?

No, you're not missing it...I'm actually not sure what's going on with it.

I was wondering about that. I have looked all over the bookshelves to find something about the book of the month and have found nothing. I thought it was just me! How are the books getting selected then?

Good question. The past three BOTM (May, June, July) were selected without a poll.

I'm in charge of selecting them now. I'm the new boss of the BOTM.

Well, now we know why this month's BOTM is such.

Ha ha ha - Maybe that is "the message" of the current BOTM. The Pinocchio smilie is hilarious. The other two....well, I will be politically correct and not comment.

I was referring to myself with both of those smileys, by the way.

I think I might be a pathological liar. Please see my disclaimer at the bottom of this message for how you should view my posts. 8)

I knew you were referring to yourself - ha ha ha.

As for the voting system for the previous BOTM's, my choice never winds up being the one picked. Maybe I am jinxing my choice by voting for it.

I just have to program the software for that which shouldn't be too hard.

I have really loved having books recommended by the review team as books of the month. This is especially cool because often times the authors will then participate in one way or another. For instance, I love how Meg ( @zeldas_lullaby ), the author of the June book of the month Forever Twelve, has become an awesome member of the community site, not even close to just in ways that regard her books.

So what you all think of the idea of putting in the nomination and voting system to vote between books that have been recommended by the review team as book of the month.

Alternatively, @bookowlie had a great idea that I liked to maybe have a book or review of the week chosen from the reviewed books that would be standalone to the book of the month system.

In any case, I will have this all decided and ready to go very soon.

My choice has also never been selected. But I probably have strange taste. Because I'm really an alien.
