In the past few days, I have noticed posts that include @Bookowlie, yet I never received a PM about them. I just don't want people feeling bad if I didn't see their post.
Do you have a link to one of the posts in which someone wrote @bookowlie but you didn't get the message?

There were 2 or 3 other instances, but this was the most recent one.

I don't remember where the other posts were, so I don't know if the @ comment had an emoticon afterward. The comment from Bluemel4 did have an emoticon afterward.

Scott made a post somewhere, about a hundred years ago whenever the whole tagging thing first came out, telling what would and wouldn't result in a proper tag, but I can't for the life of me remember which thread it was in. I seem to recall that there can't be ANYTHING directly after the name, excluding spaces and quotation marks. (Or if you are @ryanj1 -- commasryanj1 wrote:Perhaps this might be an appropriate time to ask whether one way of tagging a member is better than another. I usually include the commas (@"ryanj1") but others don't. Does it matter which is used? And does punctuation after a tag prevent it from working at all?

The problem is if one writes @Membername, then the software thinks the comma (or other punctuation mark) is part of the member's name. So if the member's name contains a space or if it will be followed by something other than a space, it needs to be written as @"Membername".
Additionally, it won't be triggered if the tag is added in an edit of a post.

What I could make instead or as an addition to the current tagging system would be a box or page that contained 'recent mentions' in which a link to any posts in which one was mentioned using @ would be displayed.

Thanks for the clarification, and I think that would be a good idea. I'll add it to the list.Scott wrote:@ALynnPowers is correct.

But also, if you go into the Control Panel under Board Preferences, there is this:
Notify on a mention in a post:
Mine was set to "No." That might explain why, in my case.
