What Were Your First Impressions on The Great Migration?

My first impression of the book was sadly bad. Yes, the starting scene was brutal. But if it were a prologue, that was later better introduced in the first chapter to better grasp the scene, I would have appreciated it better. As for Bellona, that character had good composure almost throughout the story.

When I started reading some pages, I was terrified. The gruesome situation faced by Luta and his teammates deeply touched their emotions. The author didn't only tell the story of the deaths of Luta's teammates but also described the way in which their bodies were scattered in the thunder valley. In short, it was a terrific experience for me.

My first impressions of The Great Migration was that the author wrote in a very clear and simple way which helped me dive into the story right away. The first scenes are packed with action and kept me engaged. I was expecting a slower more dull reading (in part because I had a negative bias toward the book cover). My heart was in my mouth when the dog Scout was running toward his family. The barong was chasing Scout. So glad Scout made it! By the middle of the book, my questions were answered. What were your First Impression of The Great Migration?

The storyline starts out in disaster! It was very descriptive about the deceased looked, smelled and the main character Bellona was horrified! As the reader, I was confused. I had so many questions, and my curiosity kept me reading until all my questions were answered. Maybe this was the intention of the author? If so, it worked! As a reader, to be thrown into a disaster with no warning can be shocking. It was a great read!
