I thought the ending was quite satisfying except that the reader is told that Bellona and Keldiari make it to Thunder Valley. That sudden jump of weeks, perhaps months forward in time felt slightly disjointed. I figured book two would pick up with Bellona and Keldiari setting out on their journey, and I think that would have made more sense to maintain some anticipation. Even if the author wanted to skip telling about the entire trip, that time jump could have been made in between books I think.
