Do you read children's books as an adult? (Aug '24)

I'm curious, do you read children's books (including middle grade ones) as an adult? Why or why not? :eusa-think:

I absolutely do! When I find the right middle grade and/or children's chapter books, I truly enjoy them. Sometimes, it's a breath of fresh air and sometimes I just need a simple read. If I'm in a book slump, a simple chapter book can get me out of it!

I only read them to my young grandsons or if I am commenting on a Book Of The Day. Some of them are adorable but way too easy to read. Besides, I'm into romance novels.

Sometimes the simplicity of children's book is amusing as an adult and you would not understand somethings that you understand when you read it as an adult so yes I like reading children books but mostly those one that I have already read once before in my childhood and understand the things about the book that you did not before

That makes sense to me, and I agree they are pretty simple. I do end up reading a lot of picture books to my children every day, but sometimes I do like a good middle grade chapter book.

Thank you for sharing! Romance can be a very fun genre to read. Hope you're reading a good romance now!

I like that you have childhood books to go back to and reread! Yes, I agree that there are ones that I may not have understood everything at the time, but can as an adult. Thank you for sharing!

I agree. Children's books can help children learn more about life and how to learn one another's perspectives. Sometimes, I end up learning something new when I read a children's book!

I do. I absolutely love them. The main reason for me being I work with children and parents therapeutically. And I keep looking for ways to express the children's world to the parents. I also look for great reads to recommend to children of different ages.

I read them all the time. Partly because they remind me of how deep a simple story can be. Most stories hit different when I read them as an adult. I always wanted to take up English lit. which never happened, so by reading children’s books I am restarting that path.
The new stories are so interesting and full of morals and values. So far none of the books have disappointed me, rather I have new found respect for children’s book authors.

I LOVE reading children's books! The authors always make the characters so quirky...imaginative... and funny! I especially like books that feature animals. When reading them to children I see their faces come alive as they try to imagine themselves in that animals' shoes! Then they try to guess what the animal would do next!
I Love It!

Yes, often the pictures are fun and the books themselves make for easy reads; I find them especially helpful to get out of reading slumps.
