The blend of suspenseful storytelling, historical backdrop of 1970s Nigeria, and the protagonist's journey through a complex and politically charged environment.

Being new to the review team, this was my first opportunity to engage a book of the month as a reviewer. I've always enjoyed historical fiction as a genre, and my attention was peaked by other reviews. Now, having read "Finding Freddie", I am glad I had the opportunity.
I am an avid reader. I typically read 1-2 books per week. I enjoy a wide array of genres including Sci Fi, Action/Thriller, and Historical Fiction.

As a geologist and christian, I also particularly enjoy books on science and faith.

What drew me to this book is because it talks about Nigeria which I believe is the giant of Africa. I wanted to get some knowledge about the country.

The plot. I read the description and was very surprised that something like this happened in the past so I wanted to read all about it and I'm glad I did.

I love the history and mystery genres. I don't know which of the two I love more. But they are amongst my top 5. So, when I read review that was one of the things that caught my eye.

I was interested in seeing how the mystery of Freddie's disappearance would be solved. I also wanted to know more about Nigerian people and culture during that period.

was drawn to Quest: Finding Freddie: Reflections from the Other Side by Thomas Richard Spradlin for its unique mix of historical nonfiction, adventure, and personal reflection. The premise of the author’s quest to locate a prominent businessman in 1970s Nigeria intrigued me, as did the promise of cultural and political insights along with the author’s personal journey.

This book intrigued me because of the topic of international politics and relations. Before reading it I expected the book to be like an action movie, but it was more rich with realistic details and logistics you usually never see in action movies. I don't know much about countries in Africa, so this was another reason why I wanted to read the book and it exceeded my expectations. I learned a great deal about the geopolitics of the time and what it actually takes to carry out this type of mission. It was enjoyable and educational!
