Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

I was actually super shocked that they found Freddie alive. My money from the get go was that it would be a body recovery if they could even find out what happened to him. It was definitely a page-turner and I'm glad it had a relatively happy ending.

I was taken by surprise by the ending. I wasn't expecting it to go the way it did and I was for sure shocked when I learned about Freddie and what Spradlin was able to accomplish.

With the stories I have heard about Nigeria, I was surprised they found him alive. And I was very happy to read that. Owing to the very fact that I have been in suspense before the ending. Also, I approached the book with an open mind expecting anything to happen at the end.

Although the author had anticipated a physical recovery, they were taken aback to discover Freddie still alive. The book had a thrilling plot and a happy finish, but the author wasn't prepared for the unexpected turns of events, such as Spradlin's achievements and the shocking revelation regarding Freddie.

I was shocked that this book had a happy ending. When I read that this book was based on a true story, I immediately thought that it would not have a happy end, but I am glad that I was wrong.

I thought this was a great book, but the ending came so abruptly for me. I wish he would have had a conversation with Freddie before the end. I would have liked to learn more about what happened to him and how he recovered afterward. I assumed he wouldn't write a book about finding a dead person, so I wasn't overly surprised that he found him, just that he found him so quickly.

The hally ending, involving finding Freddie alive, I thought was a good way to tie up the story. Like seeing a happy ending of a movie. The strength of the story was more in the suspense and adventure leading up to the ending, but the ending was still well written.
I am an avid reader. I typically read 1-2 books per week. I enjoy a wide array of genres including Sci Fi, Action/Thriller, and Historical Fiction.

As a geologist and christian, I also particularly enjoy books on science and faith.

I found the ending of the book both surprising and satisfying. I did not expect to discover that Freddie survived, which added a compelling twist to the story. The unexpected survival brought a sense of hope and closure, making the journey through the book even more impactful.

The novel was fantastic, but the finale ended too quickly, and the protagonist and Freddie should have spoken before it ended. The author was surprised to find him quickly.

I for one was shocked that finding Freddie took less than a week!… I had a feeling he’ll be found but I thought it would take longer.
Asides that, I liked how it ended, there was no lingering questions on my mind at the end, he covered all the bases, he even went to see the sisters taking care of the children found at Kuramo beach who were used for sex. It was a good ending

I really enjoyed the story and build up to that point. I suspected all would end well, or at least with them finding him alive. Personally, it would be disappointing if they hadn't.
Spradlin is such a good story teller, and I appreciated the way he articulated his memories. It was a wild ride until the very end.
