Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

Actually, the first chapter when the parents were arrested, this set the scene for the whole book.i liked other parts, such as the Games and when it was being explained to Spirit the political state of the region, when could refer to the map at the beginning.

Spirit is certain he can win this one fight that will pay for Emily's life-saving treatment. He goes to the underground to fight Meiko, only to use magic unbeknown to him, and cut off Meiko's hand. Of course, this is against the rules, and the cannibals plan to eat Spirit. Everything changes for him and Emily, and the future is going to be completely different than the past.

Spirit, determined to win the struggle for Emily's life-saving therapy, rushes underground to battle Meiko with magic. However, he mistakenly slices off Meiko's hand, breaking the restrictions. Cannibals intend to consume Spirit, resulting in a transformation in their lives and a new future.

The first chapter, where the parents were arrested, really set the scene for the entire book. I also enjoyed other parts, such as the Games and the explanation of the political state of the region to Spirit. The map at the beginning was particularly helpful for understanding the context.

My favourites moments were the bits where their friendship was starting to show through. The scene where they are all in Emily's hospital room, and again when they are together in the forest.
