I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading historical fiction, social justice, and a bit of suspense. I would say this book isn't for young adults, nor for people who are sensitive to the topics of sexual abuse, abortion, and racism.

This story would be best for those who love historical fiction and are not too sensitive to content

I will recommend the book to lovers of realistic fiction with touch of historical elements, like racial injustice and American history.

This book is not for everyone as contains several harsh topics that can present triggers for some people. Besides this point, the book can be a fascinating read for fans of historical fiction who want to understand a bit more about the different behaviors and perceptions relating to race back in the USA.

It’s best suited to those who love to dead fictions fused with history. This is their best bet. And even the author didn’t make look like a history book. The histories were subtly added.

I'd recommend it first to those who enjoy historical fiction, next to anyone trying to understand more about Black history specifically, and finally to anyone struggling to discover who they are.

I would recommend Deceptive Calm by Patricia Skipper to anyone who would like to revel in the 60s. People who enjoy historical fiction will find this book to be very appealing. If you also enjoy books with overarching themes then this book is for you as well because asides the historical aspect there is a story in this book.

Deceptive Calm had a romance plot, racial discrimination thoughts, and historical events. Hence, I'll recommend the book to those who find these topics interesting.

I would say the over 16 crowd, and maybe over 18 depending on how sensitive the person is to sexual violence and racism. I would let my 17-year-old read it if only to let her know that sexual assault can occur even within a relationship. Too many women, and especially teens think if you are married, or dating, someone, and especially if you have already had sex with them willingly in the past, that it isn't rape even if you say no.

I wouldn't recommend the book to anyone. The pornography and poor editing are bad enough, but the ending is disappointing.

I'll recommend this to people who love to read novels with a historian background. I like books that delve into the historic times when racism was still prevalent. I like to see how the characters go around this.

This book is ideally suited for readers who have a strong appreciation for historical fiction, particularly those who enjoy stories that seamlessly weave together elements of suspense and intrigue. However, it's essential to note that the novel tackles extremely heavy and sensitive topics, which may be triggering or disturbing for some readers. As such, this book is best suited for readers who are emotionally prepared to engage with complex, thought-provoking, and sometimes unsettling themes, and are looking for a story that will challenge their perspectives and leave a lasting impression.

The book is very intense, which is both positive and negative. I believe to some the wealth of difficult topics dealt with by the story can be overwhelming. Themes of abuse, racial hate, inequality, can hurt the sensibility of the most fragile. Moreover, if someone ever was subjected to domestic violence and/or discrimination, the content might be triggering.
Other than that, I believe the book is suitable for all of those seeking an enticing, fast-paced plot line.
