Yes! I had honestly read quite a few reviews before I decided to buy, read, and review this book myself because I thought the story seemed quite compelling. I thought there would be a lot more mystery and suspense, a lot more like a thriller. I liked the underlying topics of racial discrimination lived at the time and I think it was very well portrayed in the book.

I went in with an indifferent attitude, being that I hadn’t read any reviews or anything until after I read the book. I was intrigued by the title of the book so I gave it a shot.

Yes I guess, most of the reviews I read talked about Vanessa and her struggles which is what actually made me curious to find out more about Vanessa's life.

The reviews caught my attention. However, I was a bit overwhelmed with the triggers and some of the reviews mentioned that there were some graphic scenes that could be disturbing. However, they made me emerge in this read.
