This book is so enticing to read—it's instructive! Learning about the customs and culture of a foreign land is always fascinating. Given the recent unrest in the Middle East, it is inspiring to hear of those who have shown such tenacity. As soon as I get time, I love to read it.

I haven't read this book yet but, after reading the synopsis and the short autobiographical blurb about the author, I'm so excited to read it. I love a story about a person overcoming insurmountable odds, especially one in which they were born, and becoming not only extremely successful, but a pillar of their community, culture or country. Mr. Ansary did just that. I can't wait to read this.

The genre is non-fiction. I liked the background of the history of Persia, its place in the world. I like reading about the world in the 1970's and how the countries worked together before and now. It was interesting to relive that time in history.

I think this book should be a required reading for high school students. He also has another book about George Washington, that I would like to read.
