I enjoyed his telling of his entrepreneurial experiences, both those that were successful and those that failed. His moral compass kept him motivated to look for the next opportunity. His numerous friendships and connections reflected his honesty and outgoing personality. It is a story that inspires the reader to look for opportunities in their life. That is the reason he wrote the book and to praise the progress of our country which is diverse and has brought better lives for those who have and will come in the future.

The depth in the book to me was the never-give-up spirit in both Cyrus and his father. After being orphaned and living in the street, his father was able to rise above adversity and taught his children to do the same. Even though Cyrus was sure his chance to move to America was gone, he continued to look for ways to pay for the move by himself. I am still reading the book, but have been impressed with his spirit

I think one of the most amazing things about this book is that he wrote all this detail about his life. I wonder if he has a diary. Don't you wish you had written down your life in a diary to share it in a book when you were 91 years old!

The book has multiple themes going on. Beyond just being a non-fiction, the memoir tells about many themes that reader will find relatable. Friendship, connection, perseverance, the idea to strive to find a life worth living in a new land, and the different experiences of adversity cut deep.

It is not easy to be detailed and truthful in writing about one's life. Seeing this made me feel that apart from being a non-fiction book, the courage of the author offers a depth that cant be described in thjs case.

I believe that many books of non fiction present depth beyond it. However, I think this in particular was extra memorable beyond it being a book on fact. The levels of hope and motivation shown really inspired me to always remember to never give up in life no matter what

One observation that I have is that, the author, at times, does not display a great deal of emotion. I read through the timing in which he fell in love, was married, had children, divorced, and his wife passed away, and I felt like I didn't get a good feel for the emotions that backgrounded that portion of the text. So while the book contains depth in some ways, there are other areas that the author doesn't speak too much into. Maybe there are some topics that he feels more comfortable talking about than others?

I was amazed that someone could tell their life story in such detail. I was a bit surprised that he and his first wife divorced. He did not explain that. I thought the reason might have been that he was busier with his career than being a husband and father. It seemed he didn't want to explain that enough to satisfy me.

The book was inspiring and should be a requirement reading for students. It is a guide for young people to set goals and be good citizens.

Beyond being a nonfiction, Odyssey of high hopes is full of inspiration especially from the life of Cyrus and his father. Personally, I learnt that giving up is not an option; perseverance and strife are key to achieving success.

I agree that he must have had a diary or something because the descriptive details are beyond what one would expect from a 91 year old mind. I have a few diaries and journals from my teen years, but the drama and angst are not something I would want to share with anyone.
