I mean, maybe? Humans do a lot of wild and crazy things for love and connection, but the suffering at such a large scale is hard to justify. Especially if God is intended to be the paternalistic guiding hand that many regions paint the deity as.

From a religious perspective, of course it is worth the cost. That being said, is important to remember that life needs balance, it needs pain to understand and appreciate love, and that is not something to blame on God, after all He also gave us free will and that is where evil came from.
