The book claims that God's pursuit of timeless love with mankind is the reason he allows evil. Is love worth this cost?

The book claims that five prerequisites are necessary in order for love to occur. According to the author, these five preconditions for the experience of timeless love between man and God provide the key to explaining why God allows evil and suffering. Assuming this is true, do you think that the experience of friendship and love is worth all of the pain, suffering and evil in this world?

Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

Yes, love is worth this cost, as the book claims that God's pursuit of timeless love with mankind is the reason he allows evil, because without that, the importance of love people will not understand. It keeps balance between love and evil.

We cannot blame God for the evils in the world due to His love. If there were no evil in the world, God's love will stiil exist. This five pre-conditions for love to exists makes God's love stronger.

From a scriptural perspective, love is worth the cost. The reason Jesus came and died was because of God's love. Even as humans, we do unimaginable things out of love.

This is also a good way to look at it. Great insight.

I mean, maybe? Humans do a lot of wild and crazy things for love and connection, but the suffering at such a large scale is hard to justify. Especially if God is intended to be the paternalistic guiding hand that many regions paint the deity as.

From a religious perspective, of course it is worth the cost. That being said, is important to remember that life needs balance, it needs pain to understand and appreciate love, and that is not something to blame on God, after all He also gave us free will and that is where evil came from. If everyone acted perfectly, if everyone acted the same, we will not know true happiness, love or friendship.

Well, the answer depends on whether love is the purpose of life or not. If it is, then all the pain and suffering is worth it. If no, then the answer for the initial question would be a no.

Join via the following links for a more philosophical discussion about this book to share your ideas on whether love is the ultimate purpose of life, and whether evil is caused by love, as the author suggests.

I believe it is worth it, because without facing the really bad such as evil, there is no way to appreciate the good stuff in life either

Yes, the book explains that the value of timeless love is greater than the price of suffering because love completes the purpose of creation in people.
