I was pleasantly surprised as I started to read this book. The author's narrative style is easy-going and descriptive. My interest was piqued immediately. I am four chapters into the book and I find it educational, entertaining, and thought-provoking.

I found the book very interesting from the beginning. I really enjoyed how the characters were introduced. I thought it was geared more toward older kids than younger, though.

I was definitively captivated from page one. The book is well-written and intriguing. At first, I pushed away the book for so long because I didn't like the title; but when I started reading it, I was hooked.

Honestly, no. It took me a few chapters to get into this book. I enjoyed the writing style, but I prefer to have some idea of what I’m going to be reading and the first few chapters didn’t provide the explanation I was expecting. As I got to know the characters, I fell in love with the story.

I really enjoyed the book from the beginning. Honesty, I knew that it was going to be a book I would enjoy. The author vividly described all the events progressively.

The first few pages drew me in instantly. I like how each character is introduced so that readers can become familiar with each one. However, the way these children speak and behave gives the impression that they are much older than the very young ages that are given in the book. Nevertheless, I am enjoying the read. It is very well written and detailed so that I feel as if I am actually there.

Yes, the first pages of Dumb Orphans immediately draw me in. The raw emotion, vivid setting, and sense of urgency make you invested in the orphans’ journey right away. It’s the kind of opening that makes you want to keep turning the pages.
