What was your favorite quote?

Post by Bertha Jackson »

There are several quotes in this book. Which one was your favorite and why? Mine was “A house divided against itself cannot stand” by Abraham Lincoln. I strongly believe in loyalty. That does not mean you must be clones of each other and in constant agreement. You need to respect and honor others’ opinions, even if they differ from yours. Constant battles within governments, families, and in society as a whole bring disaster.

Mine favorite quote was “Work smarter, not harder.” Sometimes, if you really think about your task, you can find a way to do it easier.

"True success lies not in wealth and fame, but in the ability to pursue one's passion with untiring dedication and joy." (pg 239)
In other words, the power to never give up is true success.

I can relate :). We often overthink and drain ourselves to accomplish things, yet there's someone doing the same stuff with ease.

This is one of Monica's gems: "My parents carried an effective disciplinary regime for us, yet it was so simple. They used to punish us for any wrongdoing and never gave any reaction if we did something good. Because it was categorized as normal behavior, a behavior considered necessary to be maintained in a society should be termed 'normal' instead of 'good behavior.'"

There were several quotes that I like.. My favorite is "Never give up, never give in in the face of adversity".
("When there is life there is hope" seems to mean the same thing.) This serves as encouragement for people to keep trying even after failure. Successful people may be disappointed when they fail, or are rejected, but they continue to pursue their goals. Monica demonstrates that many times throughout her life.

My favorite quote that Monica used is "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." If you fail, don't sit around feeling sorry for yourself. Get up and try again. Success will come with this kind of attitude.
